2016 BMW M3  [0.00]
Just received a BMW Survey about future 4cylinder M3!

Just received an email as a current M3 owner from BMW Board of Drivers titled “Influence a future BMW”

Basically they are asking if we would not mind going from 6cyl to a 4cyl or a 4cyl plug-in hybrid.

The G80 might be the last 6cyl M3 unfortunately.

Here are some screenshots:

There were follow up questions As well if its a 4 cylinder with a plug-in hybrid would that be ok as opposed to 6 cylinder.

BMW is following MB as next C63 is going from V8 to 4cyl.....

Yup, saw this on another thread as well. Understand that there are certain folks who want/prefer efficiency; but leave us alone!! What is going on with the "everyday consumer motorsport" industry?

Build a less attractive auto then nail the coffin with a "4", my guess you won't be seeing M cars on the road.

All BMWs, within the next ten years or so, are eventually going to be all electric or hybrid, so it's pointless they are even asking.

Tesla plans on using parts from a literal rocket, to build they next sports car, so BMW has to step their game up, before they get left behind or get caught up in emissions law bureaucracy.

I'd probably rather have an i4 than either of those options.

I got the same survey as well, probably because I signed up for the "BMW Board of Drivers" some time ago, as this who it came from (actually qualtrics-research.com) I didn't start screen capturing until I saw where the survey was going but I got only a couple of screenshots because you could only go back one screen. Here's one that you didn't post:

All of the questions were scenarios you would prefer if a gas-only 6-cylinder M4 were not available.

I think that the previous question was whether you would prefer a 4-cylinder plug-in hybrid or a 4-cylinder with a gas generator engine that would only charge the batteries, kind of like the i3 with the Range Extender option. I said that I might chose the plug-in hybrid so I think I got the above question.

The survey was definitely geared towards gauging reaction to a 4-cylinder hybrid M4.

I have a 6.3kW ground-mount solar array and two Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries, so I'm definitely interested in some type of plug-in vehicle when the M4 gets replaced, or kept as a weekend-only car.
