Lap timers with OBD2 integration for braking/throttle telemetry?
Was looking at the Garmin Catalyst as a highly recommended plug and play lap timer. Does it have the ability to collect and overlay throttle/braking data?
What other lap timers have this feature? |

Garmin doesn’t have it and you can’t get this data without tapping to the canbus.

Wiring the CANbus is pretty easy especially if you have instructions! The DL comes with a harness and you just some alligator clips to hook it up easily |

You can also use Longitudinal G's as a substitute for throttle/brake application data points.
There is also the Apex unit, I have no direct experience, but have seen folks using it at the track as well. https://apextrackcoach.com/product-features/ |

It should also be noted that the Solo 2 DL on canbus can read the actual pressure of the brakes, ODB2 can only read if the brake pedal is pushed or not.

Do you know if it measures brake pedal travel or the actual pressure applied, eg when the pedal is fully depressed but the difference between 100lbs of pressure or 80lbs?

Its the pressure applied to the front and rear axles and there is a "brake" data point that is a 0-7 rating. You can see the brake # and the pressure do not seem to correlate. I am an amateur and really just getting into AIM. EDIT: you can also see when ABS is kicking in, and since ABS actually makes you slow, slower than threshold you can work on your foot work as well. AIM publishes documentation on their CAN data bus features. https://aim-sportline.com/en/documen...onnections.htm |
