Its an old box. it is what it is..no reason to get all defensive.. I actually like the exhaust sound and I have GT3s..for a road/family saloon car its fun. For a real sports car not so much I get it.. |

I haven't read it, but as a CS owner (and former auto journalist) I can tell you that I don't care a single bit about their opinion of the car.

I had no idea Road and Track even still existed. Last I knew they were pandering for subscribers - full year subscription was like $12 mailed to your house. How do they afford to pay any journalists?

And journalists, at least when I was writing, get paid peanuts.

OK, just drove the CS home from transport. About 1.5 hrs. Coming from spending some good seat time in a ZCP, having owned every M3 except the e30 and having raced tuned e36 and e46 M3s in CCA, I can say this thing is AMAZBALLZ! With only 250 mi on the clock, I can’t wait until I can actually rev this beast past 4500!:

Feels a tad peppier. But I think the real difference is it is a bit more "planted" under acceleration in turns. I guess what I mean is it is just a bit more precise in the handling department. I'm still in break-in period though so I haven't been able to really hammer it. Don't get me wrong, the ZCP is awesome as well and the power difference between the two is negligible to me right now. I was going to get a ZCP but couldn't pass up an opportunity for the CS that came my way.

"Long" term satisfaction of M4 CS ownership,
I know the car hasn't been around for long, but I would like to know the current owners' thoughts.
Is it the ultimate driving machine you would keep for years to come?

That's tough to project into the future...
I own a M3 CS with over 8,000 miles (it's my DD). As of now, I would like to say that I'll keep this for the medium-term (3-5 years). I'm coming from a M4 Comp Pkg w/ 6-speed manual. I miss driving stick sometimes, but the CS has its own uniqueness to it. It has a bit more pep than the comp pkg (it's slight, but you notice it and adds to the overall experience). In terms of satisfaction. Yes, I think I would be satisfied for the long-term (even if I do trade it in a few years). It's a great car! I was very fortunate that I was able to purchase after prices came down quite a bit.

Yes - keeping mine long term. I’m very picky when it comes to car ownership and the CS just ticks all those boxes for me. Just a great overall experience.

Put it this way, I've never been one to keep my cars for more than 2-3 years max, as I always get bored. With the CS however, I may just stash it away and keep it it for the long-haul. It really is that special.

1st 43mins of ownership....love it
I must say now that I drove it home, the sound system is pretty decent, its just that you cant play it super loud (limitation of wattage), but it has very decent lows at normal volume, and well-balanced despite not having some exposed speakers. I tend to believe there are door speakers despite the carbon cloth door cards, because you can feel mid-bass vibrations on the door card. But I can't verify this for sure. 3rd hour, the passenger side seat belt knocks against the rear carbon door panel...time to put soft padding tape on it...

I am at 7,500km on mine. I love it except for the rattly interior.
I love how it looks, I love how it drives, and I also like that it is rare and special.
