For future reference, I'm in San Diego and I used Elizabeth Aronson at http://www.sandiegotraffictickets.com.
Her website says $50, but certain circumstances can increase that amount and I paid $200 via Paypal. I spoke with her assistant by phone, never went to her office, never even met her. She showed up at court and got the citation dismissed on a technicality. However, the court allowed the citing officer the ability to amend the citation and refile. That means that they can change the charges and refile, hoping to get a conviction. However, that was in January and I haven't gotten anything further from the court.

 And no, it's not that.A traffic citation is not a criminal charge. There is apparently a wide leeway allowed in in amending traffic citations. Google it.
