Doorbell camera is useless for anything other than objects within 1-2 feet away from that doorbell camera.

You either park your car in your garage or lock your car or do not leave a key in an unlocked and parked car outside or get a real security system.

With new car technology (any model within the last 10 years), there is really not much to worry about; there are only really only a few slim ways a thief directly after your vehicle is going to get it; either a pickpocket or home burglary for the key fob, tow-it, or they could go the old-school route and get it GTA-style; carjacking.

Bottom line, the key fob would be needed, is most of these cases.

There is also the remote relay method, where a would-be thief intercepts the owner's key fob's RF signal, repeats this data to an emulator and uses this to start the car.

This is more common in European countries, not really used here in the US because one; it requires very complicated technology and actual know-how, not to mention a lot of luck and circumstances, to properly pull this method off.

BMW also revised how the key fob operates for the "G" generation, where if the key fob does not sense movement for over 5 mins, it goes into a dormant state, where it stops communicating all RF signals, rending "relay theft" a thing of the past, on all future BMWs.

Also, cars here in the United States is more interconnection within its federal auto theft database, where a stolen cars more is easily detected, within all states lines.

I know here in NY, for the annual inspection, if the registration VIN number does match what the inspection computer is spitting out, the car gets flagged as stolen and you'll be getting a visit from the local auto crime cops. This renders most stolen car thief a unless endeavor, unless it's for a unbridled, epic, Ferris Buller valet style joy ride or it's a huge thief operation, setup to ship your newfound contraband out the country, where the law are more lax and the VIN could more easily be compromised.

I mean if you’re going to update the thread, why not post what happened?

Congrats on the recovery though.

The original car was an M4. I’m guessing after defrauding the insurance company he upgraded to this car. Beautiful ride either way.

Lol. So let me get this straight... you pawned your bros 'stolen' M4 CS for a M3 CS? Lmaoooo

Or did whoever steal the car feel bad and gave you back a M3 CS?

Are there any options to try to recover or locate the vehicle, other than the standard BMW recovery 800 number? Police report already filed. South Jersey.

I’ll see if I can get the video posted.

Thanks
