Nope straight road. I drive the car hard most of the time but still an unusual issue for a car with under 25k miles

So did the tech give any insight as to what might have caused this - a freak material failure? Or even better, any signs of what to look for to try to catch this problem early?

You can snap the axle with a crazy axle hop.

Oh and I was right

This time I was launching the car. Dumped the clutch while 4k+ rpm and instantly snapped. For a performance car these axles are very weak!

You clutch dumped at 4k+ (I bet you were higher) in a 444 hp car and you're blaming the axles?

Are you being sarcastic?

That’s exactly that the “launch control” on a dct car does. It’s a “feature” of the stock car

You think that launch control does a clutch dump?

Are you talking about a feathered clutch or a clutch dump? They are very different things.

Ive had a 6mt Infiniti and a Corvette that I did the same thing to many times over the years and never have I ever snapped an axle. Didnt think a BMW would either but we live and we learn

To be honest considering you ran a tune on the car there's 90% chance you spun you crank hub man.

There's a 100% chance it was not a Crank Hub failure. He already stated he broke an Axle.

Clutch dump at 4k rpm is sure what it looked and felt like on my f80 when I used LC

I don’t even want to call it “launch control” because a porsche pdk has launch control, where you can hear the computer cutting power as needed based on the traction to get an optimal launch, whereas in my (2015 civic model) f80, it was just a huge smoke show and 2 nice strips of burnt rubber on the road

Since this post I've broke the axles 3 more times making a total of 4 rear axles broken...

Really shitty oem axles from BMW. I'm now getting them rebuild at Driveshaft shop.

Anyone else ran into this issue?
