Read the whole thread in the link below for anyone wondering if engine ticking noise is normal:

Did anything ever come from this? Not so much the ticking which sounds like typical injectors but there is a subtle higher pitched metallic ringing shown in OPs video and also the second video in the thread. Went out to hear my car and sure enough it's doing the same thing. Almost sounds like something is loose, wastegate rattle?

https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=27328791 I had ticking noise and it turned out to be the damper in the engine and it resulted in a new engine as the crankshaft and pistons were scratched up |

now it has 38000kl and loses power my distributor is going to change valvetronic ... he will have to change eccentric axis. |

When my 2018 M3 was in the shop at the dealership I asked the
mechanic about Valvetronic, how it worked, and about that "lifter tick" that I thought I heard... He started with "that ticking is your injectors, not your valves" so I was relieved.

hello if your bmw does, tick, tock go fast. in valvetronic and stage axis.
hey sensor and several parts, if the repair is not removed, you have to replace the cylinder head |

Just noticed this in my 15 with 52k on the clock, recent oil change was done, but there are no faults. My mind quickly went to crank hub failure thinking that basically throws the timing off, and could produce a tick — but that comes with a drivetrain malfunction, limp mode, etc…way different than a mild quick tick.
Is the general consensus it's the injectors? Or a lifter issue?
