3m tape not securing vorsteiner gts-v diffuser
Hey guys,
for all of you have gts-v diffuser, are you seeing this issue? The 3M tape on the driver side extension has not been able to glue the diffuser to the body panel but passenger side is always fine. I took it back to body shop and redid the whole install and it was well sealed in the beginning but then now it's loose again. don't have a pic yet but i'll try to upload after i go home.

So this is a common problem with the double sided tape — it doesn't stick when you want it to and sticks like hell when you want to remove it.
Take these steps to ensure the best outcome. Clean all surfaces well and finish off with isopropyl alcohol. Apply tape to Carbon side. And peel up the corner. Heat up the tape and mating surface with a heat gun or blow dryer. Align part and pull the rest of the tape backing. Use masking tape to firmly set the part. Heat up the area again to ensure a good bond. Leave masking tape on for 24 hours. Or just use screws. Be sure to use 3M Waterproof VHB Foam tape. You can find it on Amazon. |

there are no screws for the side extension...the sides are flat with no holes on them.

To locate the holes properly you can stick some silly putty or clay real thin on top of the piece and push up against car. Holes/screws should mark the putty in the exact spot. If putty sticks to body put piece of Saran Wrap over top.
Once hole spots are located use a Dremel pointed bit to make a clean cut hole. Put a drop of clear nail polish on the hole edge to stop fray, and let dry. If you're making any new holes in body panels pre-drill a pilot hole. Put in screws with a hand tool, to feel the screws bite and seat right.
