I learned to drive on a 1993 Suburban - it was my mom's car and the kids were allowed to use it. Great fun times in that car, but I would never give a kid of mine a car with that much interior space. LOLLLLL Thank goodness cell phones weren't a thing then.

That experience was good, so I got a 2012 Suburban right before the redesign of the next gen (bc that was supposedly the last "truck frame" Suburban). I'm not sure if that is true or not, but it was a good time. I had just had my second child, so all of the space was awesome. Had fun driving in snow, off road, etc. (Not hard core rock crawling, of course.) I always just equated it to having a boat. Super expensive to fill up, but that's just part of what it is. That trick helped me not worry about mpg for whatever reason. It was a good truck. I did think about a diesel suburban recently, but no real need for a truck for me right now.

Good luck with it - I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed mine!

The diesel is definitely tempting, I drove one on a summer road trip and the range was insane: cruising at 55 on some back roads the range was like 700+ miles. completely batshit.

With that, I'm a sucker for a V8 and I also ordered the catback, the brembo brakes, and the intake
New Tahoe/Suburbans have definitely improved, the addition of IRS should really help the handling feel more stable at least. I think I’d go for the Denali if I didn’t stretch for the Escalade, but that Escalade V sure is tempting. Never have I wanted a three-row bus, I mean SUV, more in my life.

That's a good point, one that needs to be explored. I've personally never ever driven any DCT vehicle.

yeah, I hear ya, but, end of the day, I'm just a lower middle class midwest kid so denalis & caddys just ain't my heritage. I mean I dress like SBF and I'll only ever see a suit again for marryin' & buryin'

With that, $GM is my pick for a 2023 auto investment: 80%+ of their office staff have been there 5 years or less and they're absolutely killin it in terms of design & product. (not that I personally buy individual stocks but some people ask me about it so that's my answer)

The new Lyriq might be more under-rated SUV and if GM would fucking start delivering, they'd be killing Tesla. That Lyriq could be a game-changer for the brand, so I don't get why they're building so slowly.

And an Escalade BEV would simply kill everything on the road and become the new baller car of choice.

GM's doing everything right, but too SLOW!

Agreed, the Lyric is excellent, a very well rounded Luxury EV SUV, with enough style, range, and speed for many. I just wish they’d add more colors and options, this is GM, not a start up company, they have the resources and money.

To me, the lack of color choices inside and out is a serious industry problem. It's so frustrating how limited most vehicles are in colors.

That's true.

I have seen more and more with Porsche and I been finding it extremely annoying. They took out Chalk for Arctic Grey, why not keep Chalk and give the buyers more options? There is no way their paint robots are that old it cannot hold it.

I hope Porsche finds a way to make their robots better like BMW because BMW doesn't miss a beat when it comes to individual orders. It takes Porsche close to 8 months (or more sometimes) for an individual color, even ones in VW group colors. That isn't acceptable. No wonder they are soo behind on their PTS orders. Not to mention since PTS is requested a heck of a lot for Porsche now as well, it would make them $$ but they haven't invested in upgrading that to overcome that problem.

Today's been a bit weird.

Ken Block passed away just so randomly and now NFL is on complete full stop because of that accident.

You're telling me! 3 years ago this month I crashed a snowmobile and ended up with a traumatic pneumothorax (collapsed lung). Tonight I'm watching Hamlin possibly have a traumatic pneumothorax causing a tension pneumothorax (collapsed lung puts pressure on and stops heart), though it could be something else (ventricular fibrillation or otherwise), and Ken Block dies in a snowmobile crash. W. T. F!

I thought Chalk was still on there as of two weeks ago.

That's strange.

I checked last time I didn't see Chalk on some of the models and only Arctic Grey was there now it is back again.

That or I am blind.

Edit: Yeah, when i built out a GT3 Touring in 11/1/22 (saved the document ) I didn't see Chalk so I saved it with Arctic Grey instead, now I see Chalk again. Wtf Porsche >.> And they still ain't giving Chalk to the one car I want it on, the 4RS.

I was totally surprised when I heard the news about Ken. Ironic/surprising that he died now (after "retiring" from extreme sports).

I did crash a snowmobile once. I was about 12 years old or so, but I was thrown from the snowmobile. I was completely fine, just got up, got some help to turn the snowmobile back upright and kept going. Didn't realize it at the time, but I was obviously lucky with the way that one played out.

A few days ago Jermery Rennier was in the ICU after a slow plow incident.

Lesson is, snow is evil.

Ha, I love snow, but you make a good point.

My wife is from Wisconsin and we've been living in the Bay Area for ~12 years now, and she always checks the weather. Well one day one of her colleagues asked why she's always checking the weather and she was like, "you don't understand: in the midwest the weather can literally kill you. Every day."

If it ain't the lightning, it's the tornados. And if it ain't the tornados it's the ice storms. And if it's not the ice storms it's the snow. And if it's not the snow it's the cold.

I can't believe I survived college.

You don’t have to be from the Midwest! Just live with, or be raised by, a sailor. We still joke about my late father’s need to watch the local news to see the 4, 4:30, 5, 5:30 and 6 pm weather…which we knew came on between the 17-19th or 47-49th minutes of the hour. Plus, in LA we have the world’s most legendary weatherman, Dallas Raines, a consummate salesman for hair color products perfectly matched to shiny zoot suits (IYKYK; if you don’t, it’s worth a YouTube gander)! It was a blessing when Peter Jennings came on at 6:30 and saved us all.

I miss snow days. Wish we would get a few snow days down here in Georgia. When snow is in the forecast it seems to move directly north of us and barely misses us.
