Is anyone using and basic phone app that is comparable? I realize it wont be as accurate as a dragy or vbox but just curious if anyone has experience comparing an "app only" vs. a real device.

In my experience, phone apps just don't have the accuracy needed for true performance data measurement. It will give you a huge ballpark estimate, but it won't be repeatable, nor reliable against other sources.
I used the Vbox to test my cars in the past. It was accurate to within less than a tenth of a second compared to NHRA approved drag strip. Vbox ran 11.96 , Track time ran 11.93. Trap speeds are off due to the way the drag strips calculate trap speeds. (average of last 60ft I believe). I'd be interested in a Dragy GPS only because the VBOX APP is terrible! |
