Protection packages for 2018 M3

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi All,

Picking up my new 2018 M3 comp pkg (manual) this weekend. Im super excited.

The dealer is asking if want to add any more protection packages. Curious your opinions on the below. I'm in nyc and leasing this car.

Also, were any of you successful in negotiating these costs?

1) Maintenance upgrade to FULL (includes Brakes (pads, discs, rotors), wipers, engine belts and Manual Clutches) for 3yr/36k miles=$640 + Tax.
* 2017 BMWs still come with Free Maintenance for 3yrs or 36k miles (whichever comes first), but NO LONGER INCLUDES Brakes (pads, discs, rotors), Wipers, Engine Belts and Manual Clutches.

2) Tire & Wheel Protection (3y rs) = $1,895 + Tax
* Unlimited Tire Replacements for your Runflat Tires (as run flats can't be repaired) due to bubbles, flats, punctures, etc... $0 deductible
* Unlimited Rim Repair or Replacements if they are bent, cracked, damaged due to road hazards (potholes, etc)... $0 deductible
* 4-cosmetic repairs (due to curb rash)... $0 deductible

3) Lease End Wear & Tear = $899 + Tax
* Covers up to $5k in wear & tear charges at the end of your lease (vehicle must be inspected by BMWFS' 3rd party inspection service)

4) Xzilon 3yr/Unlimited miles=$895 + Tax
*Covers stains on your interior and exterior finish, dings and dents (does not cover bumpers)and scratches on the rims unlimited amount of claims.

Thanks!

Unlikely you will need #1 if leasing and returning and not tracking the car. Pass on #4 completely. #2 and #3 may be worth depending on how horrible your roads are (likely since NYC) and if you have to park outside etc.

This and adding run flats CAN be repaired, but it is irrelvant because your M will not have run flats on it. Some BMW dealers will not repair any tires, run flat or otherwise, so tire repairs without the policy may require going elsewhere.

Another no here. The one that always surprises me is wheel tire insurance. If you damage either, your regular insurance will cover it. So you need to weigh your deductible along with the odds of an incident with the cost of the tire/wheel insurance. Always seems like a waste to me.

What's the standard "free" maintenance that comes with 2018 vehicles and what does your $3xx one include on top of it? How do you get it for that price if it's usually hundreds more?

I like the wheel and tire package, especially if you?re running 20?s. They cost a fortune and it pays off if you use it once or twice.

It depends on your situation/driving etc.
I purchased 2 and 4 because my wife is able to drive the car and I don't want her to worry about the 20's in pothole filled Chicagoland. The interior protection package was most appealing because my son tends to get car sick without warning and vomit stains/smell would diminish my desire to drive it. I'm also counting on him not regurgitating in the car since I bought this package. On the other hand I passed on the maintenance package because I don't drive a lot. Hope this helps your decision. Congratulations on the purchase as well!

It?s all right there in the OP. Also on the configurator if you want to read all the official fine print. These packages can be negotiated.

Stand free is just oil changes.

The package includes brakes (we track a lot), wipers, and etc.
