I am new to this car (in fact haven't taken delivery yet) but I am wondering about winter tires. Will the stock rims be able to fit a square 255 set up of winter tires on all the rims? I know obviously the front should fit as that's what they come with. But how about the back? The stock tires are 275 for the back but if I were to put on 255, would they fit?

Thanks

- The tire feels/drives exactly like a high-end all-season tire. If you didn't tell me this was a winter tire, I'd think it was a Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 2.

- They don't get that soft vagueness at 45 degrees most winter tires do. They remain pretty firm in steering/feel. But they do feel better at 30 degrees.

- Driving on light snow, slush, and sleet so far has felt like driving on dry ground.

- I was very concerned with going with 245 width as "too narrow". I can't believe how foolish I was. A sport package 335i comes with 225 wide tires. The M235i comes with 225/40/18 tires. Both of those vehicles weigh the same as my m3.

In other words, I'm rocking winter tires almost an inch wider than the SUMMER tire setup of similarly-weighted BMW sport package'd vehicles.

What does this mean? It means, at least with these tires, the car handles in the winter better than a 335i/M235i with wider top notch all-seasons (or so I'd estimate). And that's plenty good enough for me for winter.

- I swear these tires initiate DSC less than my summer tires, weird as that sounds. I've gotten pretty frigging judicious with the throttle with no worries whatsoever. Super easy to swing out the rear a bit in MDM and power through. I'm sure I'm not gripping as much, but it doesn't FEEL like I gave up any dry traction.

Super happy with the BBS wheels as well.

Hi Joe,
Thanks again for starting this thread. Lot of good info. Also looking at the same set up except the tires are no longer available through TR. Looking at the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D. Did you contemplate these tires? Also, did you get the TPMS from TR. Weirdly they are showing that they are not available on the site but a salesperson says they are.
Thx

Meant to say I am not far from you in Lancaster, PA. Actually, have a beater car so won't drive in the snow but obviously still need something for the winter temps and the possibility of getting caught unexpectedly.

I had the dunlops on a 335i. Impressed by how well I got around in those.

Have you tried popping out the ones from your stock wheels? That's what I did previously.

Winter tyres on OEM 19 in 255 ?

Hello guys, i just signed for a M4 vert in SS II. Will arrive in March. I have a question : i am planning to change the OEM wheels by The V-FF 103 Wheel. I want to know if i can mount winter tyres on the OEM 19" ? I know they are 9 front and 10 in the rear. And i have seen that 255 can be mounted on 10 (which is the maximum). But how does it look ? Is it not too "streched" ? Anyone get that setup for winter ?

Thank you

OEM 513m wheels with Michelin Arctic Alpin PA2 255/40 265/40. 12mm spacers on all corners.

265 fit much better than 255 on the rear 10" rim

Thanks

Thanks for the pics ! "problem" is that in 265 you dont have a lot of choice... And the price is "just" the double of the 255 (i assume because "less" standard ?). Anyone with 255 on the 10' ?

thanks !

Yearly bump for this thread....would like to be able to rotate from winter to winter. Anyone running a square 18x9 513M setup for winters? Would this work?

How was the 255/40 on 9.5" wheels for the winter? Any regrets going flush in winter? It looks great, BTW!!

This is 255/40 on 9x18 (ET29) and 265/40 on 10x18 (ET40), Style 513M?

Today I set winter tyres for Style 513M, 9x18 (ET29) and 10x18 (ET40).
All tyres 255/40. Maybe it will be useful to someone.
