I think it's a very smart move by BMW! Offering an alternative tire will prevent back orders which have plagued BMW in the past. I remember the nightmare of waiting for 18" Goodyear RSA's on my old 330xi, and 19" LS2 for my 550xi.

I suspect for *many*, dry conditions the largest (likely significant) consumer of your miles. Stack on better confort and noise?! I'm sticking with the Michelins until someone shows me more concrete difference. |

Can u say.... " + 100 ft lbs " on an OEM tire only 10 mm wider? Definitely agree with you on the move up to 265/285 when your OE tires are done. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 02-02-2015 at 01:50 PM.. |

I really wish Michelin made a 285/30-19 application of the PSS (not the ZP runflat version, either).

If you've have submitted your order is there any way for your CA to request the PSS?

Going down to 285/30R19 in the rear would be too small of a rolling diameter IMO, unless you want it in the front... I will be going to a 265/285 /35R19 PSS setup on the first occasion. |

The E92M GTS runs a 285/30, fwiw. I'm currently running a 255/275-35R19 PSS combo right now, and I love everything about the tires except for the sidewall on the rear.

Yes, the PSS was dialed in by Bruno Spengler. It took quite a while for them to get the tire he was happy with.

Since the F8X already has 255/275 /35R19 as a stock size, I figure that going slightly wider and larger to a 265/285 setup will be perfectly fine on the F8X . |

I'm only concerned with stiffer sidewalls and shedding tenths of seconds off lap times when it comes to my dedicated track tires. Quote:

Most users wouldn't notice the difference between the PSS and 5P tire, unless you are skilled at tire evaluation and understanding of the structure of the tire framework, pattern and rubber compound. The perceived difference is more noticeable depending on temperature/humidity where you live than differences between the tires when you are at this level. When replacing, the placebo effect is a big factor, and the difference is much greater between new and worn tires than between PSS and 5P. OEM approved tires is extremely well evaluated and tested especially when fitted to a car like the M3/M4, since they, perhaps most clearly of all parts, gives the driver/hopefully returning customer, the perceived sense of the car's character. |

I've been running PSS's on my ZHP for over 3 years now (on 19" VMR V710's), I wouldn't have any other tire on that car, they have saved my bacon countless times. I was already a Michelin tire "snob" before, I'm not sure if the Pilot Sports that were on my OEM 18" wheels were what was delivered with the car or not (bought CPO with 32,500 miles on it), but I fell in love with them and the car at the same time. I had an Acura RSX-S several years before and when I switched to a different brand tire, the whole car just didn't "feel" the same. So I wasn't going to have that happen again with my ZHP.
Sucks to hear that they are switching, but if you can afford a new M3/M4, just burn off the Conti's and pick up some PSS's.

Having said that, if I could only have one tire for the street and track, it is hard to beat the PSS. Another good combo tire is the RE-11. Not quite as comfortable on the street (but close) but better at the track. Depends on priorities but for someone who mainly drives on the street with maybe 2 or 3 HPDE days, the PSS is a great option.
