The G8X does not have more go-fast goodies than the F8X has. The G8X is heavier because it is based off a bigger and heavier chassis and because they invested less effort in keeping the weight down.

I seriously doubt an AWD G82competition will be faster around a track than a F82cs on the same tires. Power-to-weight says so.

This would be even more surprising to me than the new styling and marketing. A new model MUST outperform previous models AND successfully compete against competitors updated models.

M8 competition coupe AWD is SLOWER than M6 competition Gran Coupe RWD despite having more power, lapped by the same driver. I am thinking this is likely the result of AWD ZF8's parasitic loss at higher speeds vs. RWD DCT.

Saw the red G80 this morning on the west side highway heading into Manhattan with jersey places. It as hauling ass down the highway. The front in my rear view mirror was just as ugly in person. When it passed me the rear looked ok but it def didn't make me want to buy one.

How in the wide world of sports do we not have a single review of this car????? There are tons of static displays at dealers and now they are being seen on the road. But no journalist or YouTube “expert” reviews.

Probably because of a press embargo......like always! Of course it's intentional. Once the car is officially available we'll see all of the reviews flood the internet.

Bmw is trying to get it reviewed but the last 3 journalists who got close to testing this abomination were rendered blind when their eyes hit the grill sadly.

In the past reviews were released in advance of the car being officially available. One of the purposes of reviews is to build hype and sales

Exactly: the embargo is before the reveal and launch, not delivery!

Especially for an ///M car: they have press events in some city in Spain or somesuch, fly in 100 journalists, they all drive it, photo it, etc ... then they go to a track and all drive it there, then embargo the content until the launch. The reviews, video, pics, and media are then used by the car manufacturer as "earned media", i.e., free advertising.

The only reason an automaker would turn away earned media is if they didn't like what some (or much) of the media was saying.

If these reviews turn out to be great, then BMW is incredibly stupid for ignoring earned media; but if the reviews aren't great then it all makes sense.

And if the G8x reviews aren't extra awesome ... then this stinker will turn into a flaming stinker...

The only thing that slightly Halos the G8X is the color choice, i feel that color on the F8X doesn't do it justice.

Also i was expecting the G8X to look wider than the F8X but it doesn't, wth is that?

I guess it's only a cm wider but it's stance looks neutered. The front view of the G8X isn't even it's worse view, it's the side thats horrible

The G8X looks pretty aggressive and wide from most angles.

It's funny, that same complaint was made about the F8X in the beginning. Pictures don't do the F8X any justice any more than they do the G8X. I don't really like the F8X in most photos despite loving the car.
