I'm usually against high-performance SUV's but I do love the GLC63, and the Macan and Stelvio, but that 4.0 V8 in the AMG cars is just awesome. So hard to find a V8 in an SUV (or sedan) this small. Gonna be a shame to see it phase out eventually due to environmental regulations. :

There are a couple of rumors I haven't been able to confirm regarding the GT4 production duration. I don't know if my CA has an answer either but I will ask when my GTS comes.

Was reading a thread on these forums talking about new ECUs being phased into 2021s that at this point cant be tuned in any way. That would be a huge blow to the “who cares if its butt ugly its a dragstrip hero” crew if you cant flash tune. F80s value may go up even more.

we were told by delusional G8X fanboys that only hardcore M enthusiasts who are stuck in the past don't like the new BMW design language, yet everywhere i go (including the iX thread on here), the general opinion is not very good...

Speaking of iX, did anyone watch the commercial? Other than it being awful like typical BMW marketing these days, I have a big problem with the ending.
The commercial's message is "why not change." To get this point across they use hate messages which are obviously based off what we and many others have been saying. The final two say, "This isn't BMW," and "Go back to making BMW's," and the commercial ends at that. Pretty much seems like BMW at this point is giving us a big FU. They clearly hear their loyal (or use to be loyal) fanbase complaining, and instead of using that to better their products and keep their (now shrinking) enthusiast market, they use it as an advertising slogan, one which they then visually laugh off in the commercial, showing disregard for our comments. To make matters worse, they are even responding to negative comments, trying to justify their actions in a corny and cringy way.

EV market is expanding but BMW hasn't got the answer to it. iX isn't it. Until they come up with an inexpensive option outside of the Model 3, they are fighting an uphill battle vs Porsche, Tesla Model S/X. A company like BMW will only understand one thing. That is their profit and sales. So, we will see in a few years if we are right or their design team that is giving ppl middle finger.

All based on the same platform it seems like, more or less identical inside and outside and by the feels of it, not the 'ultimate driving machine' anymore and far from it at that, it don't stand out anymore. Just slap on a different badge on a differently sized car and call it the day. My family have been all out BMW since I can remember and everyone got one but we're all on the same page regarding the new "lifestyle" ""design"" language they got going on and my dad is moving to Merc next, something neither of us imagined would happen. I'm just lucky I got a non OPF F8X that I can hopefully keep for a very long time without too many issues because this might be the last BMW I'll ever get if this is how it's going to keep progressing, end of an era. |

Like your father, I also moved to Mercedes. My first non-BMW in 20+ years. My father has had 5-series for decades, and he stopped with the E60, which he still has today. I inherited my mother's G30, and wow did that car suck. It was a nice luxury car, but a 5-series? Nope, that car handled like a Buick, and this was not a stripper model, but a loaded 40i. I was shocked when I test drove an E53 and CLS53 to see that MB tuned the chassis, steering and brakes much better than BMW, excelling at the luxury-sport balance that the 5er use to master. Its a bit sad, I always try to root for BMW. I have so much history with the brand. I grew up with them, bought them for decades, recommended them to friends, tracked them, went to all the BMW events, met many people in the community, I even met my wife because I sold her my 3-series and then got my stepson into the brand when I bought him a 3-series to learn manual on and then I got him an X3 after someone hit him because he really loved his BMW, but they just keep letting me down. I keep saying, there's no way they can top themselves on how bad things are getting, and then they do. I answer every survey, phone call, dealer question about what I want them to change, and well... they see my complaints, and then just ignore them. I am clearly not the buyer BMW seems to care about anymore. Its a shame, but there will always be another brand out there, and right now, I am looking at different ones.

M3/4 - no way. M5 - this is quite a nice package except for the transmission. For the same money, I'd pick up a Panamera with a fabulous PDK. M8 - no way. Too heavy, not the greatest looker. For the same money, I'd grab a 911. The M2 is the only saving grace but even then the competition is probably ahead. Gone are the days when the M lineup was the top of the class. |
