I saw that vid earlier and it is so well done, one of the best productions in a long time, hopefully Hagerty can continue this.

The MKIV looks so incredible - now almost 30yrs since it first came out.
Ditto. I was surprised how well produced that video was.

I am definitely not a fan of Camissa, but I have to say this was a very well made and thought out video. A very nice piece of automotive journalism, which is refreshing in this day and age of social media influencer ripoffs.

The drag scenes were a bit too long and overdramatic. Could do without that, but otherwise, Hagerty is really throwing money into Youtube and it shows.

They kept magically transporting between Streets of Willow and Horse Thief Mile circuits, which aren't connected, so there are some editing liberties taking place, but it's not like they were giving us lap times etc. For the purposes of showing the cars off with entertaining footage, it was well done.

You all have been spending too much time in the G8x forum if you think the M2 is beautiful.

Again, if BMW wants to spice up their image and offer bold styling and attention grabbing marketing that will appeal to a new audience, that's fine... just don't compromise on the car thinking that all that other stuff is more important. Stop making the M3/4 into a giant heavy drag racer. You can have giant grills, fancy wheels, all the same colors, and giant diffusers on a G8X that maintained the same size as the F80. Why did it have to get bigger and heavier?

Bigger: the base series got bigger, so not much they could do
Heavier: No longer a priority...

Same issue. The 3 series used to be the bread and butter "ultimate driving machine" which won top automotive awards in its class for its driving dynamics. BMW's current bread and butter is the X3. The F30 was almost universally disappointing mainly due to the electronic steering, which imho is a bit unfair if compared to its competition rather than its former iteration. BMW tried to fix that problem with a sportier suspension in the G20 which ironically backfired when people said it was too harsh. Like every other manufacturer, they followed the trend of making their cars bigger and bigger. When does this trend end? Are we going to have a 3 series the size of a 7 series in the future, with the 1, 0, and -1 series filling in the void for compact and midsized vehicles?

Yes, we are absolutely on the same page. My point was specific about the M3/4 and what the ///M division can do with what is handed to them. The market in general keeps up-sizing every segment with each iteration. It seems like an increase in size is perceived as an "improvement" in every market segment, it's not only BMW.

I had always thought that BMW older line up had enough choice for me, offering the M3 and the M5 made sense.
M3 size car for a couple, maybe a young family keeping the car smaller and lighter. You want more space for the family in a heavier sedan buy the M5, Done.

I’m not wild about all the crazy variants. I think they should have focused on people compromising on a good product, vs. trying to make so many products that fit everyone’s life perfectly. Well, almost.

Agree, hood doesn't look good. I also question the whole idea behind merging the M5 and CS nameplate, just seems a bit contradictory to what the M5 stands for/what the buyers look for. Guess we'll see whether it sells or sits on lots.

Exactly. I'm thinking how many regular M5s or M5Comps will ever see a track to truly warrant a track optimized (as its ///Marketed purpose?) CS.

Nice! Well, look at that. Reflecting on their racing heritage with the M1. About fricking time. Other car companies would die to compare their cars to legendary race cars (if they even produced one). Looks like they finally woke up and fired the team that made the prior videos.
