The smell referred to in the article can come from a bad gasket from what I understand. Simple fix. For the first 800-1,000 miles I remember a burning off cosmoline on the engine smell after a very spirit drive, but lasted only a few weeks. No different than any AMG, BMW, or Porsche I’ve had before. Car has been flawless since...knock wood. BTW...you are aware of an ECU/Fuel Pump Failure Software Conflict recall on all new M5s already, right? It happens on newly launched cars...even BMWs. You may also want to check out this thread sometime too to see all the various issues that have occurred on the M3/M4: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=628 And especially this one: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...9&d=1413104939 Just saying... bought one of these, dealer discounting on new stock here was too good
it's fully optioned with the buckets and ceramics i can rant for ages on the differences, especially considering we have all 3 in the fam, c63, m3 zcp, qv, all on ceramics - though amg put steels in the rear with single piston sliders off an a200, so sad biggest takeaway for me is the ride/handling i just put tractive shocks on my m3 zcp, yeh it improved the ride noticeably over stock, it's actually tolerable and doesn't crash over broken tarmac, but it still doesn't have that solid hunkered down feel at speed on a bumpy back road like a well designed double wishbone front end, in comparison the m3 feels like it's sitting on the road surface rather than pummeling it flat like in the alfa - there is only so much bmw can do with that cheap mcpherson strut solution, and the alfa (and even jag xe) really shows it when driven back to back the rest, exhaust noise, material quality, looks etc are all subjective imo Last edited by domino_z; 07-18-2018 at 09:51 PM.. |

Not trying to bash it was just a relevant article to post in this thread. I'm actually considering the alfa as my next car. I think the the thing that does it for me most is the handling/refinement like the previous poster stated. I know all car makers have teething issues with new cars.
Does anyone have any insight on when alfa will do a facelift? |

BTW...your point about driving refinement are spot on. It seems to have a dual personality...capable of ripping around windy roads, but also extremely compliant over rough surfaces. Especially good at maintaining its composure on fast bumpy curves. Last edited by mcc3456; 07-20-2018 at 04:19 PM.. |

I drove a Quad last weekend. it was a 17 model so still had some quirks. Car looks incredible. the dealership has had it a long time due to where I live no one knows about them. the guy told me to drive it hard, so I did. Engine pulled very hard, sounds great, trans shifts fast and a little hard. Almost like the DCT in the hardest setting. Don't knoe if there is an adjustment for that. Overall came away very impressed. I previously owned 2015 M3, 2016 M3 Comp. Then went the GT350 route, and now have the 350R. Now I am looking to move back to something a little more usable and that the wife will travel in. the Quad has moved pretty close to the top of the list. I think there are great discounts on them and from what I have read most of the kinks have been worked out. Closest to a Ferrari I will ever get lol.

First laps on track in my Q wagen. Drive racemode setting as thats the only setting for track. All ESC and TC (traction controll) get off then. This track is rather mickey mouse, 3.1km with 30m height difference and its always turning. This is a very very hot day, its 30 degrees and it gets like a boiling place up here when this hot. So, not the best track for a porkey Alfa. My car is 1690kg full fuel no driver. On the same scale my M4 GTS was 1610kg full fuel no driver. So Alfa is 1770kg with me in car att track. Thats alot of pork, still car was very god balance and not understeery at all. Very good brakes, I got steel rotors. Car is 100% stock. 1.33.3 was my lap time ( racelogic v-box)
In my stock 380hp GT4 Porsche (1430kg full fuel no driver) i did 1.29.9, but not as hot then. GT4 suits this track better than porky Alfa. My stock 360hp M3 CSL (1450kg full fuel no driver) i did 1.31.9min this track. All cars on same scale. (I am 80kg with helmet and gear) (In GT4 and CSL i did set the times on my second time returning to this track, i guess that is a few 10:s as well. In Alfa this was my first time ever on track.) They are much better if you factor in the current discount levels. Some cars are discounted between $6,500-$12,500 depending on model year and dealer. Last time I applied the current discount to the online lease calculator it was about $1,150, not including local taxes, but that could fluctuate depending on current incentives and equipment levels. A perfectly equipped car is only $78k MSRP, whereas an over the top build is like $91k. Candidly, the car is a much better buy than lease, and my personal experience only confirms my decision to buy. I bought mine 18 months ago, so the price was only $2,100 off, but my car could be bought new these days for about $67k.

Apparently, the 2017s are going for around that. However, with 2018s you gain Apple Carplay and Android whatever. Also, recent late 2018 deliveries now include split fold down rear seats, so obviously those would not get as significant of a discount. Said it a million times, it is the sport sedan steal of the century at these prices.

Hi there and Thanks.
In the youtube video description I wrote some, check it out. But I would say this car got very god front and rear grip, its odd as its 1770kg with me in car but it just rotate and grip, not at all understeery. It was 30 degrees hot this day but car did not complain, sure this mickey mouse track 3.1km short and 30m height difference as well it seems to be always turning. Well the front left tire got bad, then again it did just the same in my Porsche GT4. As well M4 GTS fronts got worn very fast even its -2 negative all wheels when low down track set. I will try to rotate tires/wheel left side to right to get a few more laps in to attack to lower my time. I look at my trace and I should be able to cut 1 sec. Quote:

Hard for me to say as my M3 had the M Performance front lip which was probably lower. I bottomed out my M3 once and the Quadrifoglio once. In 14,500 miles, that’s nothing unusual. However, I’m probably a bit more cautious with the Alfa due to the active carbon fiber front lip.
