What to get after M4?
Hi all,
The warranty on my 2015 M4 will be expiring soon and it's time to think about my next daily driver. Currently considering (in order of seriousness). Alfa Giulia QV Porsche Cayman S Jaguar F Type Audi S5 M3/M4 Competition Ruled out: M2 C63 Have driven them all except for the Jag and M3/M4 CP and the QV is in the lead...but I'm a bit put off by the cheap interior bits as well as the lack of HUD. Anyone in a similar position? Thoughts? Thanks! |

I have an '18 S5 now. Love the fit and finish of the interior, it's pretty quick too. Just way too civilized, especially compared to the raw untamed feeling of the M4. Great daily though, super quiet on the road. I see you have some sedans on the list. I would have recommended the E63S, if it was cheaper...

I'd also prefer some new tech like adaptive cruise control and Android Auto but these things aren't mandatory. |

I'd roll with either the Porsche or the Jag...way more exotic than the other choices.
But I'm biased because I have my heart mostly set on those two even though I won't be buying for another few yrs. I want the convertibles in red |

You should also consider leasing if you change cars out every few years. My M4 lease is up in the end of July. It was a fun car but I am ready to move on as well. Still haven't decided on my next one.

I’d go Cayman S as long as you don’t mind the loss of practicality. A few thoughts below:
S5: Great car for the money but a definite downgrade. I’ve had one and I would only consider it again as a second car if I had a weekend toy in the garage. However I’d 100% look at an RS5. Hell I’d even look at the RS3. F-Type: I used to love them and they drive/sound amazing but recently I’ve lost interest. They just sound too synthetic to my ears now and I’ve seen so many on the streets now that preowned prices have dropped through the floor. I think this would be fun for a year then you’d get bored. Cayman S: My top choice of these. Different driving style, different brand experience. Should hold your attention for long enough. But major drop in utility from the M if that’s a factor. Don’t have much of an opinion on the others. |

If you don't want a manual transmission, of your list I'd try the Alfa. It's a bit risky, so I'd probably lease...but by all reviews, it seems to be the closest 4-door Ferrari that you can buy.
I think I'm going to try the M2C. But it likely won't be a long-term relationship.

While fast, the new RS5 is still too numb, just like the S5. Thankfully I leased, so I may switch early to something more performance orientated myself, sometime next year. Defiantly going to consider an M4, F type R, Alfa Guilia GV, or possibly an E63S.

You should drive the ZCP before making a decision. I think the ZCP is a big improvement over my 15 M4. Also, go full leather, it really upgrades the look and feel of the interior. Idrive is also upgraded noticeably.

I vote for M3/M4 Competition.
I was in the same boat. Got out of the '16 f80 non ZCP lease early and into '18 ZCP f80. Choosing different color combo, 666 wheels and CF parts all around, I get the "new car" feel. Looked at Alfa and RS5 but lease deals were not nearly as good as M3. Test drove f-type. Base model is crap, the one I liked was over $100k. Jaguar money actor is awesome though. Good luck!

Have you considered a CPO 911? If I didn't have a need for 4 doors and family practicality, I'd be in one for sure. In fact I recently sold my 911 once our first baby arrived. Depending on your builds for all these cars, they could be in the $75-85k range. That's a very healthy number when shopping CPO 911's.

I've never driven one, but the Corvette Stingray is nearly half the price (depending on options) as a 911. Seems like great value but I've never driven either.
