Yes, sorry. This was already installed by the BMW dealer the car was sourced from. I didn't ask for it. That dealership just installed it - not sure why.

I have no idea. AllI know is that the SA from the original dealer called me and asked for permission to take possession of the car because it was deemed to be a Dinan install issue.
I am not sure they would eve share that info me with. My SA from the dealer I bought the vehicle from hasn't even bothered to give me an update. |

If it is truly a Dinan issue, let the other dealer deal with it. |

When your car throws a CEL (Check Engine Light) or Drivetrain Malfuction or any other error, DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) are automatically stored in car's system. The dealer would hook up their diagnostics computer (using a program called ISTA/D) and scan the system for DTC's as well as any other module errors that might be present.

You seem to be an expert. Can you please respond to my other thread about whether I should even keep the Dinan? |

While I agree the SA you took your car too is probably clueless based on your other thread in general, taking it to a dealership with knowledge of Dinan is probably better especially if they told you it is a Dinan issue. There isn't a lot of threads on the forums here that have come up and said they are having issues with Dinan, so that alone should say something but sadly it is technology and things just fail, it is how it is. I agree with Cary. Take your car to the dealership that knows Dinan and let them take care of it, or speak to Dinan directly and see what they tell you. Either or it does seem your current dealership is sadly clueless.

I'll bet it was a a P12xx code, somehow adaptation related. Keep the Dinan. Good bunch, good support if needed.

Thanks everyone. I will certainly keep you updated. I am scratching my head about why this dealer installed the Dinan in the first place. I bought the car with the Dinan because it was the only car available in the area when I decided to do an impulse buy.
BTW - if there are any Dinan folks here, I'd love to hear from you. |

Got a call from the SA in Salem. He said that there were a bunch of error codes and software needed to be reset, but that everything was running fine now. He said that they had reached out to Dinan to consult and were waiting to hear back. They're going to test drive my car a little more and if all goes well, I'll get her back this afternoon.
Error codes attached. I was surprised at the number of errors and my SA responded with "Yes, at face value it seems overwhelming however only a couple errors are valid. Because they are networked they cause a lot of other errors." |

Got another call back from the SA updating me that Dinan and the dealership are in contact. Dinan has advised that the car be started a few times and then driven a few miles.
Everything seems to be looking better so far! |

If it is a Dinan issue, they'll stand behind it. No reason at all to remove it. My opinion. Had a few Dinan cars in the past, 1st in 98'... and most recent on my 14' 235. |

SA called and said that they were ready to deliver my car back to my local dealer and that everything checked out after consulting with Dinan. Apparently this was NOT an issue with Dinan and as stated earlier, software had to be reset.

Got the car back this AM. Considering I had it only a few days before this happened, it feels like I have to get used to it all over again. I am going to take it on a long drive now to see how it feels.
I have to drive it for a while and will post back. In the meanwhile, I really appreciate all the feedback, including the assistance from Dinan_Engineering. |

I drove the car about 50 miles this afternoon and everything felt good. I did notice that the car felt like it was shaking just a little when I was at speeds under 20 mph, doing downhill in slow traffic. I was in gear 2 when this was happening. Is this normal?

Reach out to Dinan again. Maybe the Vanos? I get this from time to time, but usually on cold start then goes away.
