Wow I am behind.... MY 4/2014
I just downloaded the current file (UPD09051) from the BMW server and tried to do a software update and it deny's me. Guess my old horse is as best it can get...or I broke something when I coded it ![]()

I had an issue with a leaky injector on my 2018 M4 Comp. I took it to the dealer and they repaired the issue. I took the car back and felt the cars driving dynamics completely changed. it felt detuned. Almost like they forgot the comp tune.
Sport+ throttle response felt less sensitive, the car up shift faster, and it felt less slippery, even with MDM. It seems like if you roll on the throttle in light to medium press, it takes off smothly, less wheel spin, but it begins up shifting as soon as you back off a bit. I also noticed almost like, second stage response. If you smash the gas it then downshifts, and runs out the gears, the throttle response is very sensitive at that point. Almost feels like the previous sport mode. It did make the car more drivable in sport+, but that's why sport and comfort exist. Previously my sport+ mode the throttle was twitchy, and the car waited to start upshifting for a munch longer time. It would loose grip with MDM on. The car just felt more dramatic. the dealer said it did not update the firmware, at least the tech didn't note it. So im very puzzled about the change. My friends also noticed the difference. So im not going crazy. At least not on this one. Is this what the firmware changes discussed on this thread did overtime? Regards, Frank Costeira |

Any idea if the firmware can be updated over the air? So if a SEL is thrown the car does an update to try and clear the SEL. |

Have a 2018 M3 CS and took my car in for service and asked if I wanted to update the firmware - anyone with a CS can confirm whether it is worth updating the firmware or best kept as is.

Drove my friend's 2020 M4 Heritage and my 2018 M4 ZCP back to back and noticed an immediate difference. My car almost feels down on power compared to his. 1st gear on the 2018 is completely nerf'd -- feels like less boost and power. Both cars are 6MT.
If I update my firmware, would it prevent me from tuning the car via OBD down the road? Would it simply require the bench unlock or lock me out entirely? |

Is there any way to see the changes in I-level upgrades? I just updated to f020-22-03-552 from f020-15-03-503 and the car definitely feels different. It could be a placebo thing but the car drives a lot smoother.
