Dont forget everybody hated Bangle's 2002 7 when it first came out and now it looks like he was way ahead of the curve..while I think lexy is a boring car company this is rasing the bar.....BMW M is sleeping at the wheel....they used to be 5 years ahead of the competition..now they just worry about cost savings....The 3/4 M cars are the marketing magic that help sell other BMW models...lexy reworked a v8 and M went back to a I6?...this is going to be a GREAT year to be a car guy...BTW...can the 2015 z06 really boast 620hp and 650ftlbs.....458 killer!

not sure I follow you here......that car is still a massive abomination in terms of styling. simply horrible

the m3/4 will destroy this car on a track and in real world testing, I would count on it. lighter, faster, actual performance transmission choices, etc...

I am a BMW fan especialy from the technological point of view, but I like other cars too and I own other cars as well.
It is my objective opinion in regards with this car.
Lexus design is not clever, is boring and blunt.
I am a person who apreciate a flowing designthat knows how to loose a part in another in a very clever way, giving a certain air and identity to a car. Lexus does nothing from me except remind me how cars were in 80's.

Sorry, it is really ugly.

Wait, what car from the 80s does the RCF remind you of

The seats on the Lexus look amazing, other than that I like the M4 better.

Lexus has never before competed well with the m3, and I don't expect this to be different.

The m3 will undoubtedly be far lighter, and be more performance oriented as usual.

Of course I could be wrong and lexus could blow us all away, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Many people do not understand how much faster the m3 will be with this new turbo powerplant and also are discounting how well the car will handle due to the upgraded suspension, materials stiffness, differential tech, solid subframe and weight loss. Not to mention the vastly upgraded brakes which have long been an M-car weakness.

JMO, we will see.

Full disclosure : I have less than zero interest in this lexus because its auto only and IMO looks terrible

Here's a vid that shows the Lexus 3 dimensionally... I'm sure the BMW will drive better and be a better performer, but why do we have to get one or the other? What I'm saying is, the Lexus actually looks to match the BMW performance. The M cars should make you do a double, triple take... It should make you stare. besides the quad exhausts on the current M cars, I can't really tell a difference between them and the non M.

to me, the widebody fenders and track and CF roof make the m3 look much different than any regular 3 series variant

I think the argument is a little stronger between an m4 and 4 series though....but I am not interested in the m4 so I don't really care haha

Not a fan of the front grille on the Lexus at all--but the rest of it looks pretty decent.

More aggressive lines than the M4 IMO--which can be good or bad depending on your respective point of view.

That's what I'm saying....this car seems like it'll be a serious contender.

Can't wait to see what Caddy cooks up with the ATS-V and the new AMG C-Class

Maybe I'm missing something here, but that Lexus interior does not look awesome to me. I'll be the first one to admit that BMW interiors are a bit boring (especially after looking at one every day for several years), but that Lexus interior just looks like it's dated before it even comes out. With the exception of the suede-look armrest, I'm just not digging it. Note the flat, hard plastic panel of buttons on the left of the steering wheel. I'm pretty sure I've seen similar hard, black plastic panels of buttons on late 80s-early 90s pontiacs.

Specs-wise, i'd love to drive one around for a day or two.

yep, yep, and yep.

Chris Bangle is the most influential car designer of the past 15 years, that Lexus is a W, and BMW is more interested in sales volume than building enthusiast targeted, spine-tingling M cars.

LOL at the redline.

As for the design, this is what I think happened. Toyota wanted their cars to appeal to a more youthful audience, so they sent their designers to a Japanese middle school for ideas... and no where else.
