M4 GTS C Clips
I just purchased a GTS from the local dealer. I wanted to investigate the shock settings just to see if it’s been changed from the baseline setup. Just pulling off a front wheel it looks to me like there’s no C-Clip installed here. Does someone more familiar with the car agree?

I don't see the c clips either... I lowered mine like that now... removed the c clips and lowered it to the stopping point.

When I bought my car last month, it was missing the c-clip spacers as well. Your pic is similar to what I see on my suspension. The spacer, I think, goes between the knurled height adjuster (the part with the little silver fastener) and the spring cup that the suspension spring pushes against.
The dealer ordered me replacement clips but they are apparently on the slow boat from Germany. |

Thanks, I think I'm going to ask the dealer to order the C-Clips front and rear. I can only assume that the rear has also been removed. I don't know how difficult it is to get at the rears to put in the C-Clip there. The Toolkit also doesn't have a knurled wheel for the rebound adjustments. I've already ordered the Supplementary Manual for the GTS which will help.

Anyone have pics with the c-clip installed? I’m guessing I don’t have these either. Will they help raise the ride height?
On another note, OP did you just buy the white car with 12k miles? |

That was a pretty car, how do you like it? I thought their asking price was a bit strong but hopefully you worked something out.

The C clip doesn't support any weight. It is just a fixed reference from the lock block collar. You can't just remove the clip and the car drops to track height. The lower perch still needs to be adjusted. You really don't need the clip. Just adjust the lower perch the correct number of turns back up when you want to run "street" height.

Got it, that makes sense. Thanks a lot.
Last question, looking in the supplementary manual it only says how many mm to lower but is there a hub to fender (or some other reference point) height measurement to know when you are at street height?

That's pretty much what the C clip is for. It's a measuring point. If you want to go to the stock height, you raise it until the C clip fits in snugly. If you want to set it for a track, you pull the c clip and lower it to the stopping point... That's where I'm at right now. I like lowered look

Got it, thanks. Makes sense. I need it as high as possible for the roads here.
Look what I found

Interesting, thanks.
"A height adjustment automatically results in a change in camber and toe", that's what I thought as well.

I remember someone talking about changing the shock screws during rear height adjustment and totally forgot about it. I will have to order those to keep them handy. Maybe those are the missing screws from the toolkit everyone wondering about.

In case anyone ever needs the part numbers for the suspension c-clips. They are about $12 per 2-pack.
Front 15mm clip -- 31 31 7 845 114 Rear 7mm clip -- 31 31 7 845 115 |
