My money is on most people here liking the G80 in a couple years. I am starting to warm up to it. I still don’t like it as much as my F80, but I felt the same way about the last 3 generations of 3 series since owning an E36... and I’ve ended up owning all of them.

Second, this car is going to sell like hot cakes. It's such a stunner, hardcore enthusiasts have mixed opinions, but the car has an amazing presence, I do agree that the M4 G82 looks soft but goddamn that G80 M3 looks sharp af. The F8x generation was one of the best designed daily driver cars of all time in my opinion, so maybe that's why the G8x bothers some of you, but I've seen a handful in person and they look mean af. the market (meaning most people that can afford this car and looking for something like it) will buy it. The hate on this is funny to watch, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion. 3-5 years from now a handful of people on forums might still be moaning about that darn G80 but most of the people making negative comments will probably be driving one. Can't wait to get myself a 6 speed RWD one in a few years. Kudos to BMW for keeping the manual & keeping the MSRP of these reasonable. The one I spec'd out as a potential future order is actually the same price as my current f82 with very similar options. |

BTW for me the E46 and F80 were immediate love at first sight. The E9x took some time to warm up to with its softer front lines. |

The only issue I recall people took with the F80 was the sound and while I believe one could legitimately say the V8 from the E92 sounds better, much of the uproar was sour grapes. E92 owners were pissed their cars effectively became obsolete in an instant. I don't see that happening with the G80. I'm not seeing how it's a clear upgrade. A little off topic on the M8:
I had a chance to drive one of them @ an M Track day event. It felt big; the power was there but I was confused who the car was for. It had a bespoke interior with fancy stitching, seats etc. a little too nice for someone who would take this to the track and flog it. I dunno, I felt that the interior spoke to someone who just wants an insulated GT car and while the engine etc spoke to someone who wants a driving experience. Clearly not my cup of tea. Back to back, I like the M5C better on the track and it wasn't about the money. Given a choice, M5C. Clark_Kent The market is reflecting that. There are used versions with 30-40K off used with less than 1000 mi. https://www.vanguardbuickgmcofcarrol...e=BMW&model=M8 Quote:

Not a fan of the M8. It tries to be a GT and a Sports Car, and fails to do both. Many other better options in the $140k+ market. BMW just doesn't really do that well in the high-end luxury market in my opinion.

When it comes down to it, it’s a lot of $ to spend to have to talk yourself into liking it.
I wanna see my car and say damn that’s hot , not ughh I think I like it. |

For the "pictures don't do it justice" crowd, I saw one in the flesh yesterday and it is just as bad. I really can't believe BMW did this to us.

Well, we should all tell Dukec and Hooyodonk about their 20/80 design appeal approach to the new design, "Mission Accomplished!"
I'm in total agreement. The added pork on the car is already bad enough, but to add more salt on the wound, the design is a big departure from classic BMW. If they think that people like me will eventually 'grow to like the design' and accept the porkiness, they are going to be proven dead wrong. "The pictures don't do it justice" -- Agreed, ON ACTUALLY HOW BAD IT LOOKS. I've seen one in the flesh months ago. |

Yeah...I can get behind the idea that a COLOR can grow on you, but a DESIGN shouldn't have to grow on you. It's either love at first sight, or it's not.

Honestly, I think the G80/82 is... different, but ok. It definitely stands out.
The grill is growing on me and the interior is a huge step up. I would say the F80/82 design was that good, which in turn makes a mediocre design like the G80 look worse. Just my $0.02 |

If you disagree with me on something that is almost entirely subjective, that's fine, lol. A car being a stunner can't be really argued "specifically" , you look it and decide whether or not you like it lmfao. I still feel that an M4CS or an M4 with M performance parts is the better looking car compared to the G8x but after seeing a few in person I'm a big fan. |
