Boot Mod3 Tune
I just purchased BM3 today from an old friend of mine for $300 with the e-cable. Got the license transfered and everything. My M4 S55 currently has 42k miles on it and i wana throw on the Stage 1 91 octane tune on the car to gain more power. But with the risk of spinning my crank hub, im having second thoughts... My friend told me spun crank hubs usually begin the cars early miles, but idk how true that really is, just would like some opinions from people who have had previous experience!

its really a hit or miss. these cars have like 1-3% chance of it taking place. if you extra paranoid and have the funds, address the crank hub issue. however thats also not a guarantee fix.

With a stage 1 you should be fine. From what I've read, most SCH's happen over 500 whp. I'm running a stage 2 and the worry is in the back of my head daily. Going to get the CH fix once I get back stateside. You can also go with the GTS or CS tune and see how you like it.

make it stronger with vargas turbo SCH kits.
you have 2 options; 1- https://vargasturbo.com/product/vtt-...k-bolt-capture 2- https://vargasturbo.com/product/vtt-...nkhub-solution i have bootmod3 with stage 1 and i go with option 1. but if you want to go with stage 2 so i suggest to buy option 2. its up to you and about your budget. see ya. |

It's LITERALLY a handful of cars over the last 5 years. If you are going big power (nobody has ever proven that is even the case) and spending huge money to get there...might as well. If not...we'll that's up to you. But certainly don't lose sleep over this. Realistically, driving these cars at the speeds I see on public roads by many poses a MUCH higher risk to the vehicle (and lives) of those said drivers. Humans are not very good at evaluating risk relativity. That being said, I fixed mine because it seemed stupid to spend the money in Turbos, tune, meth etc for incrementally smaller gains and then not spend to fix the hub. YMMV Cheers |

Another crank hub question/thread.
Really 3 options. I took option 2. A) fix it, that way if you fixed it and it spins, you won't sit there and regret how you should have done something. B) forget there is a crank hub problem, enjoy a stage 1 BM3 tune or stock. Its got plenty of power, why is more needed? C) get another car...... |

If the car made it to 42K miles without the SCH then a Stage 1 from BM3 is still in the safe range. Sorry about your Cali 91. Don't do any E85 tune without a hub fix or a bankroll.

I advise customers to do the crank hub fix once they start running stage 2 maps.
That being said it could happen even on stock, its up to you whether you want to take a chance with it

Maybe I'm just old and conservative, but I'd really like to know:
These cars can barely put down the power they have with street tires - what situation are you in that requires more power? Dyno bragging? Track use? Honestly asking, not trolling.

Once you drive a tuned M3/M4, stock power becomes boring
