What more does MPE exhaust give you more than Stock?

I was wondering during the week about the MPE exhaust and was thinking about price as well. For an MPE exhaust it is roughly costing you around the region of £2500! But what does that give you?

1. Slightly better sound
2. Subtle boost in HP
3. No Rust
4. Less weight
And so on...

(Bare with me!)

When I open the valves on a stock exhaust system, it is supposed to be straight though bypassing the muffler, but the difference being the stock exhaust has one more catalytic converter than MPE.

So this is the conclusion: Are you just paying for one less Catalytic converter, so if I were to cut off the secondary catalytic converter and weld in a pipe with exact same diameter on stock exhaust, is it basically an MPE? Or am I just a colossal knob!

Yeah some of the reasons why I would love the MPE but I don't think it warrants £2500, maybe in a few years

Better sound
Better looks
Lighter weight

It does not provide a noticible gain in power.

I thought BMW claims that it doesn't give you boost?

The MPE will probably not give you gain. If there is a change it will most likely be in the -7 to +7hp range based on the HP of the engine. When the tuners with the most HP F80's around say that exhausts like the MPE give your little or not HP, I listen.

If you find any literature from BMW that actually gives you example HP gain let me know.

If some other exhaust doesn't have the cats, this might provide some minor gain. (or potentially loss).

Best bang is a Tune, then downpipes.

yea, I remember when I had my E92, there was a boost with it being NA, but I'm not sure with turbocharged engine?

Better sound .

Dont expect any Performance increase with the Performance exhaust

With all the options available for your car, you are definitely overpaying for the performance exhaust. I recommend you look at other options that offer more for less.

If you are looking for more power a tune should be your first option. JB stage 1 is a very popular starting point to the M3/M4 tuning world

I was actually looking at REMUS, cheaper than MPE and improves sound (not saying stock sounds bad)

Remus sounds great, Active Autowerke is a new option that became available last week and sounds amazing as well.

Purely for the exhaust note unless you go for a full system that increases the air flow.

BMW did not claim any performance gains for the MPE on the E9X. However, independent shops dynoed it with 4~7hp gains, which is marginal and within test-to-test variation. It is probably similar with the F8X MPE.

yeah, I had a REMUS sports exhaust on my E92 but I think Remus dynoed it and it was something like 10hp boost. I never noticed the boost in Hp but the sound...

I agree. That S65 with a good exhaust was pure bliss

It sure did, that S65 engine was a jewel, some days I wish I had my E92 back, but then again I'm glad I'm healthy enough to enjoy every second I have with my M4...you know

The E92 did sound amazing. No doubt about it. I wish I had one to go along with my M4 and X3d.

Imho. MPE, AWE are the best exhausts for the M3/M4. I don't care about the 10+ hp gain. Stock sound sucks sorry. Yes the MPE is not cheap but now I really enjoy my car. Can't put a price on that.
