ID5/ID6 Navigation Incorrectly placed on map.
I have just put a new NBT EVO head unit in my F82 M4 (2014/2015). Everything worked fine for a while, but now the Map is showing my vehicle not on the road but shifted off to the side by 100+ meters. Basically it is not properly tracking the location of the car with respect to the roads.
I went into the Vehicle settings diagnostic mode, and it said it had a 3D fix, and read out the Lat and Long. Then things seemed to be fixed for about a minute or two. But then it started drifting off the road and getting out of sync. Any ideas on how to fix this would be much appreciated. The new NBT EVO HU was coded to my vehicle by BimmerRetrofit, in Vancouver. And they are super great at helping out, I just wanted to solve this problem on my own.

Do you have NBT EVO With GPS antenna or with ATM retrofitted?
Thanks

Not the HU or coding itself based on past threads. |

Not sure, there is a little black box module, that the blue antenna connects to.

Did BimmerRetrofit provide the "little black box module" as part of your retrofit kit? If yes, the module may need to be reset or the firmware upgraded. Attached is a pic of the BimmerRetrofit EVO retrofit adapter from their website, for reference. BimmerRetrofit should be able to help you solve this issue. FYI, my original EVO retrofit kit (purchase in early 2017 from a European vendor) also included a similar ATM Emulator (since my vehicle came with a TCB). I too had issues with GPS location accuracy...at that time, the vendor was aware of the issue and was working on a FW fix. Good luck... Larry

In other words, either reception with the physical location of an aftermarket GPS antenna to physical damage of cable preventing error free signal at the head unit or something physical in path between Antenna and HU creating errors (see the bad emulator post above yours). So again, not a HU Coding issue. |

Yes they provided the little black module that is the GPS adapter for the retrofit of the NBT to NBT EVO ID5/ID6.
So here is more into. I plugged what turned out to be the WiFi antenna, into the GPS plug. (Teal connector to Teal Plug) THIS IS WRONG. The Blue GPS connector that is in the dash, is the OEM GPS antenna. So if you plug the Blue (Sky Blue) connector into the GPS adapter that Bimmer Retrofit provides then the (Little black box) gets the proper strong signal via the cars GPS antenna. I then took the short WiFi antenna and plugged it into the back of the head unit, and this greatly improved the WiFi hotspot connection that is used for Apple Carplay. Now that I did that, both Carplay and the GPS are now working properly. I should also mention that even with NO WiFi antenna connected to the head unit, Apple Carplay still managed to connect, but the connection was twitchy and the system would pause for seconds at a time while trying to transfer data. Once the proper Wifi Antenna was connected CarPlay has been super stable with no problems. Hope this helps someone. Quote:

I had used the wrong antenna.

I had wrongly connected the WiFi antenna to the GPS adapter, and this was causing the problem. When properly connected to the car's Blue GPS antenna, the navigation system is super accurate and works fine now.

See above. Physical issue of signal. GPS plugged into WiFi (wrong connector). As predicted physical issue with signal, not a coding issue.

So everything has been working fine, but now I am getting no screen when starting the vehicle. The screen is just black... not emitting any light. I turned the car on and off and the screen was still blank and did not boot with start up.
The off thing is the computer is still working as I can change stations, and hear music playing from my phone. So just the screen is off, the computer is working. Any thoughts.

No they did not provide a voltage regulator, and No there was no new screen. But they did provide a new cable to go to the existing screen. And that new cable is installed.
