What power supply to use for iDrive 6 flash?
I am going to upgrade my 2016 M4's iDrive 4 to 6 (with CarPlay) with EasyBimmercoding.
The remote-coding installation requires a battery charger/powersupply and I'm having trouble determining which one to use for the Lithium battery in the M4. I ordered this Schumacher charger 30 amp, since EasyBimmerCoding requires at least 15 amps (I've seen different info around), but it turns out it's not compatible with Lithium. I found this article about the best PSU's for coding, but even the most affordable option (CTEK PRO25S), at $525, is well above budget. They all look to be for professional use and overkill for the task at hand. So, for those who have done this flash is there a power supply for Lithium batteries that you would recommend that's more reasonably priced? has to be 15 amps minimum. Alternatively, is there anyone in the Northern/Central NJ area that I could borrow one from for an afternoon? Thanks for your help! |

I have this one and have used it while coding, flashing, burping the cooling system etc
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...f_=as_li_ss_tl Same thing as Ctek, slightly less expensive. Does Lithium batteries. Last edited by Kilabyte; 09-26-2022 at 06:28 PM.. |

@Kilabyte TractionControlDelete thanks for the info. These look to be 4 and 5 amps respectively. Easybimmercode calls for at least 10 but preferably 15 since the process takes a while (about an hour to 90 mins). Have you used these units for a similar purpose and/or time?

Closing the loop on this one in case it helps others: I found this thread and a video showing a suitable 10A charger. I had the easybimmercode i4 to I6/CP flash done last night and it's great!! 👍
