Navigation map updates

I'm sure this has been discussed, but my (admittedly brief) search has not come up with an answer... How are people updating their nav maps?

I have a 2015 M4 with old maps. Other than taking it to the dealer, I assume we have devised a way to get these updated. I see on eBay that there are sellers out there that are selling a "lifetime FSC code" to be used. Map data not provided. Does someone have a link/info about where to get said map data?

Is there any guides to getting this to work, I have tried multiple ways but the maps are not recognized by the car.

Here is what I did.

Purchase a lifetime FSC code on ebay ($13):

Purchase the 2019-1 Next North America map update on ebay ($18):

Downloaded, extracted and copied the map update onto a 32GB thumb drive (barely fit), entered the FSC code and waited 45 mins while driving around.

I realize I can download torrents, but I just don't like dealing with those.

I was able to download from here and install it successfully. Thanks! Also proved that my "lifetime" update code from eBay worked

TIPS for people with a MAC: Took me a while to get the car to recognize the SW. First, had to format to Fat32 (full format) which was a PITA. Think I might have had to do it using a Windows computer, but honestly I can't remember for sure. (since I did this a few weeks ago when installing the 2018 maps) Second, I extracted the zip file directly to the usb drive, then had to move the 4 main folders of stuff and the 3 files to the root of the drive. Then deleted the top level folders that extracting created. This caused the Mac to add a lot of hidden trash and other folders on the drive. Going to the root and typing 'ls -al' in the terminal will show you everything. Had to delete all of them and then pull the stick out without unmounting it. (possibly unnecessary, but unmounted once and it didn't work. Put it back into laptop and saw 2 more hidden files... one from spotlight and something else). So I deleted them again and pulled it out without unmounting and put the usb drive in the car, turned it on, and voila! Hope this rambling helps someone.

I ended up buying the 2019 NEXT NA map from Ebay with lifetime FSC code for $20. Install was easy but took a while but it works great!

Looks like auto update will only update one region. For those of us who still have auto update subscription, do we still need a new FSC code to install newer maps?
