Do you know how magazines get those numbers? By wringing the living shit out of the car over and over and over and taking the best time. It is not feasible that a random drag run would produce those times.

Also, it is a known fact that the F80 in that video is tuned.
Known fact by whom? Just because you say so doesn't make it known fact.

There is some really dubious stuff going on with that F80, namely that the owner lied about whether or not it's tuned (it is) and the time it put down is very very good for an informal test like that.

Plenty of reasons not to like the G80, I'd just be cautious about using that specific video as evidence.
Do we discredit carwow, or the very common knowledge that a 12.0 is the baseline 1/4 for f8x? If the end result is within spec, the source usually isn't under fire.... As Canut has referenced prior, its not the f8x that should be in question, rather, the g8x...

It being tuned doesn't really matter if it's 450hp and 550nm and runs in known 1/4 times.

You can simply remove the vmax and your car can be considered tuned, burbles can be added too on a stock map which doesn't really change anything either.

I don't see what they gain by lying on the cars output.
The car going from MPSS to 4S' alone probably shaves off a few .1 or what not, or so my butt dyno tells me moving to those tires.

There are so many different variables at play for times on these things, however, it was a clear showcase of the slushbox and DCT at play.
Oh, I don't think CarWow was lying. I think that the owner represented it as being a stock car.

As for proof it was tuned - the owner talks about it having 500hp on his Instagram. Could he have flashed it back to stock and the 12.0 run been a wild coincidence? Sure. Occam's razor doesn't suggest that though.

I wasn't trying to make a big deal out of that one video - I look forward to an objective comparison of the two cars. I just don't think that video is it.

As a very small nuance - his insta says he’s 500 brake, which with 15% loss is 425 wheel. That’s what a lot of people were dynoing their base F8Xs at so I wouldn’t be surprised if he is calculating his BHP. That said I think he is likely running a tune for ZCP or CS power and dumb popcorn, but I also think he’s up-rating his power for social media purposes.

On dynos, I don’t really trust all the runs out there for objective power, rather I like them for measuring the delta between two cars on the same dyno

CanAutM3 quick question.

I know you have the Turbo S coming but if you didn't mention it on this thread, I'm actually curious. Why didn't you wait for the 992 GT3? I figured a car like that would be better especially if you have a RS6 coming too. I figured the GT3 would be a far better replacement for the M4CS instead of the Turbo S.

Completely off track here, but I just discovered a new color and it is fantastic... and of all things, it is a MOPAR color 🤯

It is called Black Forest Green Pearl. It literally looks black except in direct sunlight or hard light, under which a very nice green metallic shines through. It would be an insane color on a car like F8X due to the body sculpting and the way metallics shine on it. Genuinely surprised me how much I liked it on the Grand Cherokee that was following me. It never looked fully green, it looked black with streaks of green where the light was hitting - very stealth. It’s like if Azurite had a Green metallic instead of Blue.

Out of sunlight:
Very similar to Mercedes' Emerald Green Metallic, looks black until you see it up close or in the light.

I love these "emerald" or darker metallic greens. I had Fern Green on my E36 and my son's E46. Its a bit brighter than Emerald but it was just such a gorgeous shade of green. I'd love BMW to bring back a classy green like that.

Quick answer: practicality.

I intend to use the turbo as my 4-season daily driver, just as I did my M4cs. As much as I would love a GT3 for the track, it is simply to compromised as a daily driver. And I need those rear seats to schelpp the kiddies around (yes, I checked, they fit fine in the back seats). The M4cs is still very practical as a daily driver and not much compromised. The GT3 is more of a M4GTS equivalent. And just to be clear, I am getting the base turbo, not the turbo-S.

LOL exact same fog light crack on my mtech 1 E46 as though it’s done by intention

I’m refusing to replace it when the new zhp(mtech2) bumper I’m ordering has fogs included.

My wife walked by and said, "what are you reading, you look disturbed?"
Me "about the new M4"
Wife, laughs and walks away

I agree, which is why my car is going straight from the dealership to the paint shop......and then straight from the paint shop to EAS or SupremePower.

Pretty pathetic that when you buy a brand new car the first place you are taking is to the paint shop because BMW fucked it up from the factory Sedan_Clan.

Yeah, it sucks. We should've been given the option for body colored panels. If I had/have one gripe, that is definitely it.

All of the lower gloss black pieces are removable (without removing the bumpers, too). The total dealer parts department, no-discount cost for everything except for the rear diffuser (but including the gloss black trim all the way around it) is about $1300, and they all come pre-painted the original gloss black. Obviously would prefer they came body-colored from the factory, but, thankfully, it's not an insane task to do it after delivery. Maybe LCI.

I have Civic DX PTSD and always want the sides painted body color. (Oddly, it was a paid option to have them in black on my old 458.)

Painted pieces + CF lip + CF side skirts will yield the look that we should've gotten OEM. In lighting conditions where the black pieces "disappear", the car currently looks high and its overall stance loses some of the aggression. The front also loses some character. Part of why I and probably others like Black Sapphire Metallic on this car is that the pieces never "disappear" and the true stance is preserved in basically all viewing conditions.

I think that looks so, so, SOOO much better. Just a bit of extra bright paint in the front changes the whole thing.

Agreed! Painted panels with a lip is what I'm going for. OEM+ is the way (....in my Mandalorian voice).
