New M3 Owner - 2017 ZCP 6-speed
Just wanted to share my new (to me) M3 with the group. It is a 2017 MW/SO with ZCP, Exec, Lighting and the 6-speed. It arrived this past weekend and I have enjoyed every minute of it so far. I had an E36 20 years ago, a car which i often referred to as the best car i have owned, but this one is amazing.
I know people have complained about the sound, and it certainly doesn't sound as good as a C63 or a GT350, but i love the sound! The power is invigorating and I am pleased with the amount of room and the overall usability of the car. I am coming from an S-class, so this car needs to serve part-time as a family sedan, and it works great for that too. I've lurked on this site for years, so it is exciting to finally - officially- join the club. Thanks for all the useful information. Next up, hardwired radar detector, coding for Euro-MDM and LED lights, and spacers all to be done by EAS in a couple weeks! |

Ha! I don't think it is actually in 6th, probably 2nd. On the other hand, I've been having some fun with it, so it is possible I parked for this picture directly following a top speed run where I went clutch-in/full ABS straight into this spot without ever touching the gear lever... Unlikely, but possible.

Congratulations and good choice with the 6MT.
If you like the exhaust sound, look into valve controllers. I really like mine.

Maniz, I was looking at valve controllers - specifically the BMS CAN Flap one - but I am on the fence. I usually drive in Sport, so I assume the valves are usually open already. is that incorrect? I'd like them open all the time except for during cold start.

I don't recall the name of mine, but I think it is the only remote-operated controller available. I have the version (they offer two) that allows you to either keep them open all the time, or with the click of the remote, revert to default setting for the given throttle mode. I use the latter when leaving home early to catch a flight and start the car in Efficient mode. Once on the highway, I click them open again and revert to Sport mode. Or if you don't care to control them, just unplug the valves from the harness while they are open...free option. |
