Is that U.S. 1? Too bad - looks like a nice car. What happened?

Looks like US-1 north from the Gables to 95.

Apparently they both merged at the same time and each is blaming the other.

I go down to Miami about once a week and hate driving there. Part of the reason I like to lease. I was rear-ended on the Palmetto last year. Very minor damage and repaired at BMW body shop. But it is on CarFax. Hit to value is probably well north of damage from accident. Happy I can just drop it off.

Front right wheel is basically off the car, just hard to tell.

It's a lease, so all that matters is he's fine. Car is replaceable.

I honestly despise traffic in SFL along with most of its drivers.

I swear people win their drivers license in a raffle down here.

The cars on the road contribute too. No safety inspections whatsoever result in people driving cars with bald tires, faulty brakes, headlights and brakelights out, etc. I know inspections that other states require can be a huge PITA but my guess is there are a lot of cars on the road in South Florida that wouldn't be elsewhere.

My buddy who works at Active Autowerke had a girl drive into his Yas M3 and she had no insurance, no registration, and the wrong plates on the car. The cop let her drive away.

The real issue with drivers down here is the majority come from countries with basically no rules of the road, so it's "anything goes mentality". Add in a contingent of old people who shouldn't be driving anymore and it's a dangerous cocktail.

Hit and runs are a huge problem too, logically fueled at least in part by people without insurance and being here illegally. Someone hit me when I had an A6 on I-95 a few years ago and took off. My car was disabled (nearly totaled). Probably 1,000 witnesses. No one called police to report or stop to see if I was alive (I was fine but exceptionally pissed).

Shit I have to drive there tomorrow.

Ugh. I hate driving in Miami. When my boss shifted some of my territory to Miami a few years ago I asked for Hazardous Duty Pay.

Rent a beater!

About 12 years ago I was parked at a light, and an old couple (man was driving) drove on the wrong side of the road and sideswiped my whole car and kept driving. I followed them to get the plates and called the cops. Cops show up and we go to the old people's house a few blocks away. The old people told the cops they had no idea they hit me. :

The cops did nothing. Had the situation been reversed and my twenty something self committed a hit and run I would have been in jail.

Thankfully insurance covered it.

Yeah, I've thought about that, but I spend a lot of time in the car when I drive down there (1.5 - 2 hours each way) and prefer to not spend that time in a beater. My car is like my office on those days so rather than having a beater I just lease now and accept the fact that there is a pretty good probability someone will hit me during the lease term. Still sucks to get hit no matter what you drive or how it is financed, but it would aggravate me a lot more if I owned a nice car outright and got hit rather than having something I can turn in at the end of the lease.

hate to see this, and also my worst nightmare about living in South Florida. yeah, hurricanes are scary but you only have to deal a few times a year. if you're reasonably careful you can avoid the people on bath salts who want to eat your face.

but this shit? every single day you risk your car. it's nerve wracking
