Price decrease at delivery!

Hello all.
I took delivery of my '17 F80 last Thursday and I was told that the price of the car had gone down (!) and I ended up paying $970 less than what we'd agreed upon while placing the order. Any idea how this could come about? New incentives currently?!
Not that I'm complaining.... That gives me money to buy a few things like a radar detector and such...
1. Which detector do you guys recommend?
2. My dealer sold me Zurich Shield (apparently they put it on for all cars sold at their dealership) and apparently its like a second layer of clear coat. When asked, they said that I don't need the clear bra. Any insight on that?

I will put up some pics soon; left for a vacation the next day...

I've ordered my M3 and was wondering if you can ask your CA about the decrease. I want to make sure that my figures are correct and would like to inquire about the $970.00
Thanks!

It's simple: they wrote up the original quote incorrectly somehow. The price didn't decrease

What was your MSRP, what options do you have, and what did you agree to pay for the car alone?

When I recently ordered my M4, we agreed on a price of MSRP - X, plus no extra costs/fees aside from documentation. That way, I could choose and change my options and still be clear about the price. I'm guessing Joe is correct and they just quoted you wrong in the first place.

Sadly whatever they messed up on and decreased the price on they got however much back because that shield thing is a bunch of bullshit. They likely put a sticker on the car saying "its protected by ZurichShield" so you get the warm and fuzzies and its not protected by anything more than a coat of shitty dealer wax. If you were planning on clear bra you still need it. Don't mean to come off salty but that protection crap is annoying and nothing but a scam.

Zurich Shield is a bit more like a opticoat type coating, definitely does not protect against chips... might help slightly, but definitely get the clear bra

This is my build:
SO/Black extended Merino
DCT
Exe package
Lighting Package
Driv Asst Package
19" black rims
Power rear sunshade
Black kidney grills (I assume it is 450)

MSRP was 79120, agreed price was 76120.
When I went to pick up the car, dealer said remaining was 75150! I asked him if there was an error and he said there was a price diff.

Yeah thats what I thought too...their way of getting money out of me...I didn't even have a choice of declining it. They said all cars in the dealership are default with that thing.

Ok, thanks for the info. I will get the clear bra put on.

You are not forced to buy anything just so you know. You can fight them and win because they can't add anything to your car and charge you for it without your knowledge and consent. If they do add it then they are assuming the risk on getting paid but they 100% can't automatically charge you for that. I would be pitching a fit and threaten to blast them on the survey which can cost them a lot of money.

It's very simple. Your dealer calculated the MSRP incorrectly. Based on your configurations it's $78,170, not $79,120. It's very nice of them to inform you of this mistake when they could simply bag that $1,000 profit.

I guess you are right!
Can't figure out how I made the error in my calcs when i ordered it. I used the 2017 price sheets when I ordered the car.
Anyways, I'm happy they were honest enough to give me back the grand back when they could've very well pocketed it like you said...

Who did you work with? I got them down 2k (my price was $79,9XX MSRP) and they were willing to come down to $79,7xx, with their $650 mandatory fee for whatever that is tacked on top of the MSRP, you know the one that they just can't waive for fear of being sued...

I walked but the Sales person has called me 3 times in the last week. I'm guessing they'd come down a bit more.

Glad to know that you got them down what looks like $3k or more from MSRP? The line I got was that these cars were rare and they sell immediately at MSRP so they dont discount them. They were doing me a huge favor by giving me $2k off per them. Funny thing was that my sales rep didn't even know how to order one until the configuration was online. Yours must be magic if you've already taken delivery!

My CA was Carl Smith; very nice elderly gentleman who knew about the pricing for the 17s before the ordering system opened up. Thats how I ended up ordering one on July 2, as soon as the ordering opened up.
So, I called them and gave them the specs and asked them to go one up on the price offer (2k discount) from an Atlanta dealer. He gave 3k and I took it. Don't take that "rare car" line; that might work in CA where its MSRP or nothing but not in TN. I guess the "going rate" is 1500 over invoice (at least for the 2016 orders); so do call other dealers (Nashville and Atlanta) before you commit.
Yeah having read the insane waiting times for some other orders, I'm truly fortunate to get it in 6.5 weeks...

Just looked on their website and they have a 2017 in that color but no pics. Wonder if that's yours? Only 17 they have listed.

Thanks. I'm holding tight so far. Seemed like they'd be willing to go down more if I had other offers to compete with. Shot an email to the Jackson dealer just to see and first thing they asked is what did the Memphis dealer offer. Probably not a bad idea to check Nashville or Atlanta.

I been waiting since May 28th.

I'm around Overton Square area.

Been seeing Gray M4 a lot down here.
