BMW Ultimate Driver 2017 - video

Thanks to BMW for putting on such an awesome event. This was my first opportunity to drive an F80 M3 and the powerband was much more linear than I expected and it really handled great. The brakes were strong as well. I would love to get one someday.

No helmets are required at Performance Center West. I attended an event in Sep 17 when they were repaving the BMW mini track so we did all of our driving on the main track, which didn't require a helmet either.

None of the BMW Performance Center events (East or West) use helmets any longer. Their lawyers may have concerns about interaction with airbags or neck safety, whether there is adequate data to show that or not.

Nicely done all of you who were there!

Having recently done the driver challenge in my area and been off by .5 sec at least, I know how tough it is to jump first time in potentially unfamiliar cars and drive them well. All these guys did exceedingly well.

I dunno, but in the US we had to sign a long and relatively onerous waiver which puts a lot more liability in your hands than Porsche or Skip Barber from what I read on a few other threads. Maybe they are more reasonable in Germany .

I was pretty comfortable without a helmet in Spartanburg anyway. There really is not much to hit there.
