2018 M3 - minor damage on carfax - big deal?
Hi, Not sure if this doesn't belong here... I have a deposit down on a 2018 M3 comp 6MT pretty fully optioned on vroom - links below for listing and carfax. I think fair deal BUT there is minor damage on the carfax. No accident* just minor damange***. How big of a deal for resale down the road? Deal breaker? Car is perfect spec for me otherwise. Pictures look perfect and carfax doesn't show repair of vehicle. Thoughts? https://www.vroom.com/inventory/bmw-...8M9C59J5K98841 https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistor...8M9C59J5K98841 |

So... is the damage concerning to folks or given this combination it doesn't matter as much? I plan on having it inspected by a trusted local indie mechanic. I can always return the car within 7d if needed.

The information was available on the Vroom site if you clicked through to the Carfax report. It is listed as minor damage, which Carfax says usually means scratches or bumper covers. I was planning to have the car inspected by a well regarded independent BMW mechanic and ask them to take a close look at the front end for quality of repair. If you do that and they say it’s fine then I think you’ll be OK.
If you do find anything suspicious please report back here so other forum members (including me) don’t buy the car. |

So to some they won't care if you ever resell it and some people will avoid it like the plague. If you independently sell it on here, some people will give you crap about it. If you trade it in, it won't make a big difference in your trade $. If it's the right car for you, I would go for it!

My car was rear ended. It seemed like my life was over at the time. In the end they replaced my seat belts, rear bumper and rear trunk. It looks 100% like new and drives exactly the same (no drivetrain or frame damage at all - was purely cosmetic to the top of the trunk and bumper). Despite this, I'm buying out my lease. I had my car repaired at rallye Bmw which knew I was super ocd about my car and it came out flawless. I know people who would rather turn in the car, but I know exactly how it looked before and how it was fixed, so not a big deal for me... I've never tuned it and most of my miles are highway. I'm going to hold onto it for a while.
