Spy's MW/SO 6MT M4 Journal

Step 1 - Delivery

OK boys and @Lups

This is my official journal of ownership for my new M4. Those of you that have helped me over the last couple months I want to thank you, I made some good decisions and learned a lot from you because of all your knowledge, all of which culminates tomorrow when I take delivery of this beauty.

My Specs:

Adaptive M Suspension
19" Light Alloy Wheel
Aluminum Blade Interior Trim
Side and Top View Cameras
Harman Kardon surround sound system
Concierge Services
Enhanced USB and Bluetooth plus Smartphone Integration
Shadowline exterior trim
Executive Package
  • Retractable headlight washers
  • Comfort Access keyless entry
  • Head-up Display
  • Satellite radio with 1 year subscription
  • Heated Steering Wheel
  • Rear view camera
  • Park Distance Control
Lighting Package
  • Adaptive Full LED Lights
  • Automatic high beams
Manual Transmission

Today I went by the dealership to finalize insurance, give them a check, and of course get conned into paying 6.5k for the extended warranty and 1.5k for tire protection... Don't ask. So now it is only a matter of hours before they prepare the car and I take delivery. Tomorrow at 2pm CST I will be the 1st, you read that right, the 1st owner of an F8x in Austin, TX.

Here are some teaser pics of the car still in transport mode for now. I bought a brand new Digital SLR which is charging right now and I will take better pictures during delivery tomorrow and update this thread.

Looks good. Did you see the Aluminum Trim IRL before ordering? Just curious.

I always got aluminum trim on all my cars, for me it's a no-brainer. I didn't see it on the M4 or M3 specifically, no.

I would've also gotten it, but didn't like the ribbed design of it (aesthetically or longevity). I think it might cause issues with scratching also. I saw it up close and personal a couple of weeks ago. I don't like going all black in mine with the CF, but I fell it's the lesser of two evils.

I truly hope it stands up well and you prove me wrong.

Let us know how it holds up. It would definitely be a hard trim to wrap if you want to go that way.

Beautiful car, sspyrops. I'm happy for you :-)

But sorry, is $6.5k the normal price for an extended warranty? I thought it would be something like less than $3k for 6yr/100k miles? I'm new to the bimmer world.

I was expecting it to cost me 3 to 4k as well pewpew but guess what? They pulled out the ol' shaft, you know the familiar one, and said "OK boy!! Show us that anus!!!"

In essence the BMW extended warranties are priced by vehicle class, A through G. The M4 is an F, one class away from the most expensive, and where A class is your run of the mill poor man's BMW (no offence 1 and 2 series owners). They are the ones that get the extended warranty for 3 or 4k, not us.

It still has the shipping blocks on. The car has horrible clearance and that will be something for all of us owners to look out for.
