Fuel leak detection module (NVLD) + dust filter replacement questions

Hey Pals –

I'm getting a fuel leak detection (line break) error on both my F30 and F81, so i'm about to replace the leak detection sensor on both cars. (Images attached)

Question – for anyone here who has done this as a DIY – do we actually need to replace the dust filter? Neither car has a lot of mileage so i'm doubtful that these are actually bad or clogged.
