I'm pretty sure I'll attend this one. Are you down for this Sunday? My CA will be bringing over his M4 and I'll bring my M3

I'm waiting for my friend to free up for the clear bra installation too but that's not going to stop me from enjoying the car at the mean time.

If you do decide to go it'll be early in the morning where traffic is minimum and even better if you use 280 instead of 101.

Let me know!

The event starts at 8am so I figure we should leave early just so we get some nice spots together.

Im gonna get it done at Mr. Tint in San Jose off of Keily they've always done all my tinting flawlessly. They'll do a great job. It was 650 for the standard bra and around 1K to do the whole hood and fenders all the way to the door jam.

Did you get a sense of how much on-body cutting they're going to do.. if they're going to be able to roll most if not all the edges so there are no seams?

Having a hard time pulling the trigger due to all the horror stories of cuts down into the paint and visible edges

Well probably not much you can do about the visible edges. I was unaware they'd be doing any cutting on the body.

edit: I called and there is no "on body" cutting. Its all computer precision cut before installation. All edges rolled.

you should ask... some shops will do lots of deep sloppy cuts and insist thats the only way it can be done.

Really good shops will be able to roll most if not all film edges behind edges on the body panels, so they don't cut on the body. I've got a buddy with an e92 and you can hardly tell its got a clear bra..

Google "bad clear bra" and you'll see some examples of shops that just traced around panels and cut on the body, and there are visible seams. A good shop will roll the film behind the edges

This shop is legit I've been going there since around 1997 always nice high end cars. I called, the clear bra is computer precision cut based off the database before installation so there no extra to be cut, and of course all edges rolled. Its crazy any shop would take on the responsibility of cutting any material "on paint". Thats gotta be a big liability. How many of those bad clear bras were from the silicon valley? Good looking out though I'm really picky about that stuff also, I wouldn't even pay if it wasn't to my satisfaction.

Shareef, owner of SSCustoms in Redwood City, does an amazing job at clear bra installs as well. That's all they do is wraps and stuff and he does Bugatti's, Rolls Royce's, just crazy expensive cars. He used to do the wraps for the Gold Rush Rally as well.
