Has anybody else ordered a m4 in the uk in march and received a delivery date?

I ordered mine on the 24th of march and have been told i will get my car at the end of july! today i got told end of november….apparantly it will change as time goes on? Never heard of that before, only took 2 months for our brand new X5 to come and that was said on order day.

Mine was ordered in December and I've been told June delivery.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

I ordered my M4 on the 1st of Feb (approx 2 weeks after UK ordering opened + before US ordering opened) and within a few days I was assigned both Production week 25 (June 16th) and Expected delivery week 28 (July 7th).

I was the second M3/M4 order at my dealer (I think the first was an M3, making mine the first M4).

It sounds to me as though your dealer did not have any of their initial M4 allocations left at the time you placed your order. BMW released the initial M3/M4 dealer build allocations in a quarterly block – May-July, so depending on whether your dealer still had one available to assign to you or not + combined with the fact that US ordering opened in the last month I would say that November is probably a realistic timeframe now.

Finally, ask your dealer to send you a screen shot from the BMW Mainframe as it will contain all of the dates + the status code – Mine sends me a weekly one which brightens up my Monday mornings, especially when there has been a status code change.

I’m currently on “1200 - Scheduled for Production” although I expect that to change soon as we get within a month of build.

1200 Scheduled for Production
5000 Confirmed for Production
5050 Chassis Number Allocated
5055 Confirmed by Production Control

5100 Bodyshop Start
5190 Bodyshop Complete
5200 Paintshop Start
5270 Paintshop Complete

5400 Assembly Start
5500 Assembly Complete

6000 Transfer to Distribution
8200 Released to Carrier
9000 Departed Plant
9615/35/45 In Storage
9610/20/30/40/50/60 In Transit
9800 Arrived Dealer

I ordered 10th march got a week 28 build 7th July .

Hi, that does sound very strange. I ordered a convertible M4 2 weeks ago and had an August build slot confirmed with Sept delivery.

Perhaps your dealer did not secure your build slot when you ordered which is totally their fault. The only 'advantage' is that it will be a '64' plate. If you have the order number it is worth giving BMW UK a call as they can also give you update info and sometimes the dealers don't tell you the whole story. I bought a new F30 2 years ago and found out the dealer piggy backed an order for a showroom car onto mine and was then hoping to see which got a first build slot, I soon put an end to that!

You'll get an expected delivery date as soon as the order is placed. I ordered mine mid-Jan, the day after the models were announced and have a W23 build date, and I am due to pick the car up on 21 June. Mine is status 1200 scheduled for production and your dealer can give you a screen shot of the status off the BMW system, I get a status every week.

I was asking my dealer (friend too) about the brands hatch experience thing tonight and he said it's going into production on the 12th May

That's excellent news - Your original build week was 23 right? - It's come forward 3 weeks in that case. I'll be on the phone to my dealer tomorrow.

Ordered my M3 end of March and still no build slot allocated, called the dealer yesterday he said not to worry. Should I have a slot by now??

Same as me. When is your dealership quoting you that you'll be able to take delivery? Mine is saying mid July which means the car will take a month from build complete to delivery? Don't know if he's gone worse case scenario as expectation management perhaps.

Anyone else have any idea on build complete to delivery timelines?

Interesting......we both have the same build week as M3-F80 and he has been quoted end of June delivery. I have been quoted mid July like you. One of our dealers has got their dates wrong I suspect. Hopefully ours are both wrong but if I had to bet I'd say probably not.

Spoke to my dealer again yesterday and he is still saying end of June, I must agree that it's odd that the delivery dates are different for similar cars with the same build week!
Don't worry guys, I'm sure if a mistake has been made it will be my dealership and not yours....... Watch this space!!

Me the car is in production but the date the dealer is giving them is dec!!??
Then i was told that anyone who has ordered the car after you will not get it before you!..

These people are seriously confused! Suppose il just have to wait n see!
