Ed: Do Not Remove Usb Stick
DO NOT TAKE out USB stick where your euro maps are. The maps will not come back on and you will have to go to a dealership to get your euro maps back on iDrive. Road side assistance will not give you remote access either. Luckily @soccerdad was able to guide me to Frankfurt but it took me almost 2 hours to get out of the city and headed to Geneva. After speaking to a dealership I found out that they need to reprogram your car and that it will take 16 hours (!!!) I'll be without navi for the rest of my ED. and will just use maps the old school way.
Note: My delivery specialist told me that I can take the stick out and plug it back in no problem but that my previous destinations will go away.

Thanks for the warning, I would have done the same next week. My wife really thanks you because w/o Nav our marriage doesn't work.

In my house it's the other way around. I fucking hate navs with passion, and the spouse of course loves them. The most annoying thing in the world I know is when he actually puts on cars and phones navs to run at the same time, to compare them. I go insane. Completely new levels of road rage.

So how does one plug in the phone to listen to music in the vehicle if the only usb port is taken by the European maps? I know bluetooth is a option but does that work in the vehicle if the phone does not have a cellular signal?

Yes bluetooth works just fine without reception as long as bluetooth is turned on on your cell phone

Sense I'm always between Europe and the states I have 2 iPhones. One I use back stateside an one that I use over here that I now hav a SIM card for in Spain Germany France and Korea lol. It's unlocked so wherever I am I buy a prepaid sim.

Powaup, is that a 12V plug or usb plug?
Also, what happened when you unplugged your USB and plugged it back in, did it ask for a code?

some advice: if you a renting a car before your delivery you should consider getting it from Europcar, there is an office right next to the Welt where you could drop the rental off. The Leonardo hotel is a bit far but do-able but the best hotel to stay in for location is the four points by sheraton hotel Also, Taxi from the airport to the Welt is 70 euros FYi
