There isn't a huge difference by any means. Below, screenshots from the 2017 LCI reveal vs 2020 cosmetic enhancements. You can see the taillights being slightly darker. These are BMW renders, it might be more obvious in real life.
Yes no big difference on photo but it may be different on real as you say. Thanks.

SS/BLK interior with the darkened taillights on an Azurite Black ZCP is the way I'd go if I could do it again. That said I'll be content with what I've got until the 2021 ZCP with Mx drive and 500+ HP comes out. Until then:

Don’t you mean edited photos?

For example, look at the picture from the back of the M4. That’s NOT what the muffler looks like in real life. Not as bad as the M2C, but the F80/82 have udders of their own...which isn’t readily apparent from this picture.

Why does the m4 and the m4 vert get different seats? Why dont they put the sport "buckets" in the vert as well?

Well, for one thing, people who want to track will more typically buy a coupe or sedan than a convertible. So the convertible doesn't need less comfortable seats for the sake of tighter support or less weight.

Fair enough but some will want a sportier seat so maybe it will come as an option?

I can't imagine they would make seat type an option in convertibles. Retrofit is an option for the motivated, I guess.

1 vote for " anything goes " under the umbrella of " individual " when ordering of customized cars / programs from the mother ship.

Respectfully, with regards to any 'verts' -

I believe they must have extra roll over protection inside of the seats ...
(a different seat altogether in a sense...)
vs a roofed car.
The inherent inverted strength differences between the two chassis must differ being with roof / no roof.
Head and Rollover safety concerns etc.

I don't own a vert but that is my belief of them.

Yes as we've all seen time and time again...Retro DIY can do almost anything if done well.
🤙🏼

The seatbelts are integrated into the seats, not the B-pillar, in the convertible.

of course they are heavily photoshopped but you have to admit whoever is doing them def makes a statement each time.

The F83 M4 Cabriolet gets the seats from the F33 4 Series Cabriolet.

Since there is no B pillar the front seats are modified to add a seat belt anchor point. This also requires a much more robust (heavier) seat. There's also a different headrest with a cutout below the headrest for the optional Neck Warmer ($500). The convertible front seats also have an adjustable thigh support. Although these have been on previous models, they were reportedly eliminated on M3 and the M4 Coupe to save weight. I doubt that BMW would design yet another front seat for those who want "sport buckets" in their convertible as the take rate would probably be extremely low.

Here's a photo I found on Google. You can see the difference and the reasons why they have their own unique seat:

BMW rollover protection has nothing to do with the seats themselves. As in previous 3 series convertibles (and others), I believe that the rollover protection is twin pop-up steel roll bars that are located behind the rear seats. I searched extensively and I can't find anything that specifically refers to the M4 Convertible rollover protection, but this is how it's been done in the past. It's probably mentioned in the Owner's Manual for the M4 Convertible, but since Owner's Manuals are no longer available on BMW USA, a convertible owner will have to chime in to confirm this.

And rigidity in a convertible is generally to prevent "cowl shake" because there is no roof to strengthen the area from side to side. It would be like the difference between an open box and a box with a lid. This generally results in a strengthened A pillar and windshield surround which benefits both the rigidity of the body and in case of a rollover.

The more they make, the better. Helps assist the depreciation, and will allow us poor men to get an M4 for much cheaper! soon inshallah

The integrated seatbelt in the convertible seats means they can’t use the same seat as the coupe and sedan. If they had to design a unique seat just for the M4 convertible, it would blow up the costs. So it borrows the 4 Series seat instead.
