I swapped my 666 for 513M wheels

Just wanted to provide feedback after switching from 20” 666 to 18” 513M wheels on a completely stock ‘18 F80 ZCP.

The difference isn’t as noticeable as I was expecting. The ride is slightly more comfortable but it’s only noticeable if you hit sharp bumps. Tire noise also went down but only marginally. The car does feel a little lighter but could be placebo. The steering definitely feels lighter. Gas mileage is only slightly better if at all.

Overall I’m not sure I will keep the 513M once the current tires are worn out. I still have my factory 666’s and will definitely keep them. The car is marginally more comfortable but now looks super basic with the 513’s lol. The dark 666M wheels do make a major impression for the F80.

Thanks for your feedback. I’ve been on 513s for the past 3 years and finally decided to change to 19s for better tire selection. I’ve been anxious to know if my ride quality will get worse but this makes me feel better.

Unless it’s just the comp pack suspension being too stiff. Then I’m still screwed haha. I’ll know for sure in the spring!

I'm surprised you don't notice much of a difference. In my experience, even moving from a 19" wheel down to an 18" wheel was a very obvious increase in ride comfort. Keep in mind, this won't magically transform the M3 ride quality into a 7 series but it should be noticeably more comfortable than running 20" wheels.

Yep concur, made the same switch and barely noticed. 513’s have michelin PSS and 666’s have Ps4s which ride nicer. Perhaps with the ps4s in 18” might yield a better ride.

Then I tried the v1 eibachs and it really helped.

I figured you'd notice at a little more difference. Or at least I was hoping that would be the case anyways, because I was debating on going to a 19" wheel at some point. These 20" wheels with the ZCP package are brutal on Houston roads (inside the loop). Driving them every day can get exhausting at times

I still think the 513's look good though!

My 666’s came with PSS. Same tires on the 513’s as well.

Something about the 513s look so good. I own a set of 666s and although they are one of my favorite, the 513s give a much better track look.

Personally I'd lower the car to remove any wheel gap if rocking the 513s but I don't know if this would be the best advice since it looks like you switched simply for comfort.

Either way they look amazing! Two different styles

Sometimes I don't get the idea of lowering to "close the gap". I see cars lowered to close the top gap only to make the side gaps even more pronounced. It's like fitting a Darth Vader helmet in there

If I understand you correctly could this be resolved with a spacer if you are concerned with the side profile?

Spacers and suspension make the look change a lot IMO

No not side profile. I'm talking about you looking directly at the wheel from the side of the car. If the wheel is small and you lower the car, the top comes down to the top of wheel but the left and right side will still be gapped.

Look at this -

You see how the front portion with a small wheel makes it look like a lower half puffed up dress? The symmetry is lost.

Gotcha! I can see where you are coming from now.

I've always had my cars like the picture on the left and never noticed that. I guess it's all personal preference.

Thanks for clarifying

I prefer the 513M look over the 666M. Lowered with spacers is the difference. This is what I rock for half the year in the cold north.
