Anyone running the Pilot Alpin 5?

They seem to be newish and the replacement for the PA4. I can't find much in the way of reviews, just wondering if anyone here is running them yet.

I saw this as well, I don't think they've been around long enough to have generated enough opinions. Similar thread on rennlist showed inconclusive data.

I am looking for winter rubber as well and noticed these but every site I see so far shows the PA5 as an SUV tire...

So it looks like there's an Alpin 5, a Pilot Alpin 5, and a Pilot Alpin 5 SUV. Not confusing at all. I ended up grabbing an 18" wheelset with Hakka R3's on them so I stopped looking at these.

I'm sure the ice and snow traction is great on the R3's but what is the dry like? I don't think anything can really touch the PA4 in terms of feeling solid when pushing the car in better winter weather. Also what size did you get for the r3 and what rim and offset?

Dry traction on the R3 isn't great, just like any other studless. If I didn't drive into the mountains I'd 100% just run performance winters as they're more than fine for non-alpine activities.

The R3's are 245/45/18 on BBS SR's that the previous owner bought off TireRack. So whatever the offset they sell them in for the F80. I went up to Eldora today and while the roads were in pretty decent shape the last and steepest bit was packed snow and they were magnificent.
