Euro Competition seats - comfortable?

GTS owners with the Euro, fixed-back M competition CF seats. How do you find the comfort for street driving?

I don't have the actual BMW seats but they are based off of the Recaro Pole Position, similar to Porsche buckets. The likely answer based on my experience with those is, a fairly upright seating position but remarkably comfortable for most once seated. The main issue is getting in and out which requires a bit of a flop. Nothing undoable but adds slightly to the inconvenience (as well as the sense of occasion). Check out the Porsche GT3 forums on rennlist re: the LWB (lightweight buckets) and you will see lots of opinions.

I had IND install the Euro CF seats last summer. After speaking with Turner Motorsports, I decided to make the investment since I planned on tracking my GTS. Turns out, good move; I can't imagine being on a track w/o them installed. You are glued to the seat. Street driving? No problem, if you don't want to use the 5 point harness, the stock seat belts are there to use. Street driving comfort?? Again, no problem with comfort; very similar to the stock seats (in my opinion). Biggest pill to swallow is the cost!

Thanks guys! I am doing a club sport build for my 2017 M2 and I am installing a roll bar along with the M4 GTS Euro seats from IND and Scroth harnesses. I want the car to be streetable and track-ready. I was attracted by the seats given they offer a factory-designed compromise and also have seat belt cut-outs along w/6pt harness compatibility. Can't wait to get them. I'll have photos in a couple of weeks when the install is complete!

For those that converted to the Euro seats, did you sell your stock seats? How much? I'm converting and would like to sell my factory seats for a fair price.

I kept mine so I don't have an answer for you. I used the stock bases for the install and didn't see much value in the stock manual seats with no bases. Plus I can go back as was delivered here in the US.

I think these are my favorite seats right now—we have them in our M2. I'm a huge fan of the Pole Position in general, but the fit and finish of these is certainly a large step above and I love the nod to the old E36 M3 vader seat with the tri-color stripe.

As others have said, they are more upright than other Recaro offerings like the SPG (perfect angle IMO), but for all-around driving, I find these Euro Comp seats a perfect compromise. The bolstering is high enough to confidently hold you in place, yet short enough to make ingress and egress less of an awkward gymnastic floor routine and more of a natural movement.

I have a set of older PP's in my E90 M3 and I feel like the new shape gives a little more room in the shoulder, something I always found a bit lacking. The hip area is more generous than the SPGs I own, which is a big reason why I don't find these cumbersome for any driving situation.

This thread isn't helping my temptation to buy these seats, but I just can't get myself to spend the dough...

I just sat in my seats - very comfy and the fit and finish is flawless! Sub belt set-up is great. They should be in my car in 7-8 days. Roll bar going in now. They are weighing the seats, also. My guess is 15 lbs. insanely light !

It's so easy to say "I'm going to save XX and just buy the Recaro". On the other hand, there is something tangible to be said about getting the genuine article. I am a fan of authenticity, and these seats look so much better than the cheap fiberglas and vinyl finish on the Recaro Pole Position. If it's worth doing, and you can swing it, then do it right.

Might as well just buy the PPs. They're a fraction of the cost. I understand if you have an actual US-spec GTS and want to update it to Euro spec, but man they're expensive. I'd love to do the doors, removing the door pockets in my M4, but again so expensive for what they are. Anyone know someone who produces replicas? :-)

Do you know what weight of the OEM BMW seats? Would be great for comparison.

I am wondering, and now I have Pat wondering...with the BMW CF bucket seats, does your head touch the backrest when wearing a helmet? I love the Porsche CF bucket seats, but my head is slightly pushed forward when I have a helmet on, and it drives me insane.
