September Road & Track E80 vs E30 Group A
Just got my September issue of Road & Track. It has a great (8-page) article about a comparison between an E30 M3 Group A racer and the new M3. It was done at Mid Ohio. It is a good article and there are some surprises.
The closing paragraph really sums it up: "Could BMW make a car like the E30 again? Of course. Is it likely to? The world is too different. But while the E30's monument didn't last, the takeaway did: The new M3 is raw, angry, and genuinely special. And for that, we should be grateful."

Best review of this car I have read yet. Love reading the history of the E30 every time somebody writes it, but this was perfectly woven into a review of the F8x. Bravo Sam.
Quote of the article: "...while the coupe appears workaday mean, the sedan looks like ready to punch your mother."

Great article and comparison of old vs. new. The author did take the opportinuity to zing the auto rev-match:
"A six-speed manual will be standard, complete with automatic rev-matching for people that are incapable of learning a simple and rewarding skill and who should probably stay on the couch." |

looking forward to a test with a racing prepped M4 to see the change in numbers. Nevertheless still an impressive showing for a full on race car modded e-30 and glad to see poster comments are keeping this in perspective. Great read!
