How Serious is P0056 Bank 2 O2 Sensor 2

Fellas,
Got a P0056 code. After a little research on the site, it's the second O2 sensor on the rear bank downpipe. I have Akra catless downpipes...

Don't see any pinched wires, plugs look good. All else appears fine. To remove and replace that particular O2 sensor would likely require removing the rear downpipe, which would require unbolting both downpipes from the catback, and removing some items up top to remove the top O2 sensor as well.

The car appears to perform fine, really hate to go to all of that trouble if not absolutely necessary. I have bootmod installed and a tune, so could clear from there if needed. I cleared with an OBD scanner, and the code came back after a short drive.

Ideas?

Thanks

Thinking I can simply unbolt the mid pipe back section of the exhaust, loosen the clamp holding the rear dp to the turbine housing and spin in enough to possibly get a wrench on it. Next step would be removing it entirely to get to that O2 sensor

The upper O2 sensors do all the Lambda/AFR work and the lowers just monitor cat health. You’re catless anyway…

I had a lower go bad and I just set BM3 to auto clear it. No problems long term. Fix the sensor down the line someday…

Hell yeah. Thank you my friend. I have been patiently waiting for someone to chime in but was starting to plan on tearing things down tomorrow morning. I was hoping BM3 could take care of it.

I was thinking the same - wait until needed to remove some things one day and tackle it then.

When you enter the code to clear follow it with a comma, and BM3 should turn the text into an icon (at least that’s how the previous BM3 version worked).

I've got no idea what you're talking about as I haven't done anything in BM3 besides install a couple of tunes. Mind guiding me through it?

On the map settings, enter the codes here, separated by a comma

[Step by step]
-In BM3 tap the green menu icon (top left).
-Tap on “Maps”.
-Tap on the map/tune to be modified.
-Tap on the white gear icon (top right).
-Scroll down to “DTC CODES DEACTIVATION”.
-In the “Enter DTC Codes:” box type in the code you want to clear, and put a comma on the end. The code should appear in a blue oval.
-Scroll to the top of the screen and tap on the “<“ icon to go back, and your change will be saved to the map/tune.
-Flash your tune again. Go drive and check that your CEL stays off.

Tried entering code P0056 into the (DTC code activation), it won't accept on BM3. Is there a different BMW code for P0056? Trying to get this annoying CEL off. Replaced O2's a year ago, not going to again for the rears.

Thanks in advance.

In BM3 under Diagnostics -> Read Codes what do you get?

I got that code off of my P3 gauge, actual fault was 11B210, low fuel pressure sensor: sensor value implausible. I wish it was the O2, this suks to replace.

Well you don’t want to clear that code…
That’s one I wouldn’t mess with. I’d fix.
