There's a bigger point. You are right that They can just add boost and include in the ZCP. I never said they couldn't. But did anyone also notice that the 340i sounds a bit different than the 335i in the videos. A new S58 would address many other things including the sound and offer a better efficiency. The F8X is very quick but let's not forget much competition will come from Not only from within M2 but also from Cadillac, AMG, & Audi. Many reviewers are already saying BMW is lagging the AMG and some question where it's standing against the ATS-V (although I'm much less concerned with the latter). What many reviewers haven't really done is reviewed the base C63. The F8X Will match the C63 but the C63S will require the ZCP package. That's not a bad thing though. We have seen this whole ZCP a package debate before. Case in point F10 vs. the F10 Comp package once the E63 hit the market. Why would one buy the regular M5 when the experience is much more enhanced with the comp package (unless you just want the badge or save $$$) Better sound, steering and more power. If your talking cost, help me understand. The foundation & architecture is there. It's just tweaks. If BMW looses share to the competition, they will spend the money. There's a business case to being number 1! Many customers want the 0-60 for bragging rights. And nothing else. And that translates into better sales. There probably will be an S58 next decade for the Gxx M3/M4, but don't expect to see anything power the F8x M3/M4 other than the S55, including the GTS which will push power up close to (but less than) 500hp. Someone else can say to you: I think the M3 GTS will get the S63 to better compete with the C63S or future C63 "GT". Sure that's technically feasible, but you'll dismiss it outright quickly because we all know BMW simply will not do that. It's really the same sort of outlier suggestion here with an S58. Yes, theoretically possible. But no, not happening. You're big dreamer though, so keep on it. After all, there's still a chance for your MY2016 ZCP prediction to come true yet. |

That makes me sad
I'm excited for the ZCP when it comes because it gives me a legitimate reason to tell my wife I need to buy another car and maybe change colors up (not that AY isn't awesome but it's fun to get new stuff) ... she won't know the difference (in that it isn't "really" needed)... win/win/win...

Rumors are still out that it will be unveiled in 2016. I am guessing to coincide with the launch of the "GTS".

Comp pack usually solves any short comings, but the F8x is already so good that I'd expect nothing more than new wheels, lower springs, standard MPE and maybe a slight bump in boost, to entice buyers.

I'd say no. Comp will come '17 once M4 LCI is introduced. Just a hypothesis.

Buying an M4 and then buying aftermarket springs to fix the ride height is bothersome. Especially knowing that most, if not all, aftermarket companies that develop springs pretty much screw up the original suspension that the M engineers dialed in. I would much rather have a factory developed lowering spring and not have to toy with a new car's suspension to achieve that "look". And right now the M4 is begging for a lower suspension from the factory. At least in my opinion. |

BTW, for those who missed it, BMW has cranked up the M6 Competition package to 600hp for MY2016. This would seem to open the door for a boost to ~450hp for the M3/M4 ZCP, applying a similar percentage increase. That's just speculation, of course, but it seems reasonable. GTS would likely be just under 500hp. |

I would hope BMW as they did with the PPk would come out with just a software boost Pkg first, hopefully to included fixing MDM also, before the official Comp Pkg launch. Would be nice but something tells me, the beancounters wouldn't let that happen for obvious reasons.
