Wing Mirrors Not Folding Evenly
Hi, very quick question - I've just noticed that on folding, my passenger side mirror is sitting about 2" closer to the door than on the driver's side.
This doesn't seem right, would anyone mind checking theirs to see if it is the same? And if not, any thoughts on what might be causing the issue? I can't see any obstructions that would be stopping the mirror folding, and on a gentle tug, it doesn't want to budge any closer to the door... Thanks |

Yeah, I've noticed this too - assumed it was "normal" but don't know why they aren't fully symmetrical when folded

I checked my partner's F32, and her mirrors fold symmetrically, and also tuck in much closer to the door than for the F82. I know the F82 mirror is different, but I would have assumed the folding motor unit was the same across the models - obviously not! |

Did a quick Google after reading your post and it seems quite a well debated issue - couldn't find a definitive answer, but it seems we're not alone in noticing it

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1100009 Seems as though LHD versions do the 'mirror' opposite, i.e. driver's (LH) mirror doesn't fold in as much, so it's definitely by design. Hard to see why that's only the case on M cars and not other BMWs, but I like the suggestion that it's so (egotistical) M car owners can see their own reflection better

Interesting - the power folding mirrors on the F32 do fold symmetrically, and flush to the door... Can't think why BMW would do something different for the F33 but maybe there is a good reason!
