Power loss at WOT (under hard acceleration) any help would be appreciated

Hello all,

I have a 2015 DCT M3, currently running stage 2 ECUTEK FBO E85.

At wide open throttle, the car cuts power completely, it's like hitting a wall. The engine does not shut off it just loses power.

Has anyone had this happen to them? No CEL or anything. I do a hard pull from 2nd gear and near the end of the gear it cuts power. Happens in 3rd too. Only when flooring.

My tuner is trying to figure out but thought I'd ask here too.

Would that cause that dramatic of a power loss, it almost feels like hitting a wall. Just a sudden stop of power. Chargepipes aftermarket, I should check the J pipe though.

Yes it happened to me when i was on some unknown shit tune, due to lean conditions i believe my ecu pulled timing.

At half throttle it was a rocket, at full it would pull and slam into a wall.

I flashed to stock then went bm3 stage 2 and all was right in the world

Interesting, I'm going to let my tuner to know to check the A/F ratios and check timing. Thanks for your input!

Just throwing this out there, but it could be the traction control. I notice that the power gets cut all the time when I have the full traction control on, even without wheel spin. Try MDM mode and see if that does anything.

This is a good idea. I'm going to have to take traction completely off and see if it does it. Also the shop is saying my alternator is bad and could be causing the issue.

I had a similar issue, are you running stock fueling/injectors?

Traction wouldn't be it. If anything it would be stability but it doesn't just hit a wall.

I'm thinking this is probably ECU related or there's a leak.

What kind of leak? The shop is currently trying two things. Replacing alternator, and REM module.

Update to power loss at wot

Turns out the cause was a faulty alternator sending wrong voltage. Crazy how something like that could cause a sudden stop like that. Felt like a fuel cut or boost leak.

But yea problem solved!
