Anyone found a good console mount for iPhone?

I have been using a ProClips console mount (part # 833597) on my 335i for several years, and it is exactly what I like.

Unfortunately, ProClips does not have a custom mount for the M4 coupe yet, or for the 435i for that matter. My two choices if I stay with ProClips are either a vent mount (that partially covers one of the air vents), or a universal adjustable center console mount (not sure it would fit properly).

Has anyone used either of these mounts, and are you, or were you, pleased with them? Does anyone have an other mount suggestions, perhaps from a different company?

I did the KUDA mount with a ProClip device holder for iPhone 6 (for small to medium cases) and plugged the lightning cable into the port under the armrest. It works great and the holder will adjust to my different cases except the lifeproof (too bulky). FYI: it was definitely expensive for both parts.

I apologize for the photos, I was tired and too lazy to get my real camera to snap pictures with the iPhone in the cradle.

Thanks for sharing this. It looks very promising. According to ProClips, their European supplier isn't planning on developing a custom console mount, leaving the only custom mount what they call the dashboard mount, which partially covers an air vent. Routing cables becomes an issue.

I have been using ProClips stuff for a while know and was also waiting for other options other then the vent option. I may just go with the vent option if they are not planning on any others. I have a similar vent mount on my Volvo SUV and do like the way it sits up high and I can easily see the phone in my line of sight. I have the iphone 6 plus and use the universal holder from ProClips and it does work great fro the new iphones.

I've also been using ProClip adjustable mounts for a long time now and they are excellent!!! Never had an issue other than having to replace them when I buy a new iPhone which is obviously not their fault.

I did use ProClip vehicle specific mounts and they were ok but don't even begin to compare to KUDA mounts. The KUDA fits perfectly and is covered in real leather that matches the vehicles interior well and although not exactly the same material it complements it well. They are on a whole different level!!! Pictures truly don't do it justice but I will try to get some better ones on the weekend.

I looked at the installation instructions for the KUDA mount. Unfortunately, the instructions are not detailed enough for me to understand exactly how the mount is secured to the dash. Can you describe the process for us, please?

An I believe you said that once the KUDA is in place that you used your ProClips holder in conjunction with the KUDA. Can you describe how that works as well?

BTW, I just realized that my Escort Smart Cord has a USB charging port on it. The Smart Cort is plugged into the front cigarette lighter plug, so this sounds like a perfect way to get charging for the iPhone in the KUDA/ProClips combo. Sound right?

First you carefully pull out the plastic trim piece with a nylon pry tool

There is a metal tab on the bottom of the KUDA mount that lines up behind the trim piece. It takes some force to fit the mount into place but it is just pressure fit. You are supposed to bend the metal tab once installed but mine is snug enough that I didn't feel the need to.

Then you just pop the plastic trim piece back in place. BTW sorry for the coffee stains, just realized they where there...

The KUDA mount is actually a hollow fiberglass/plastic shell covered in leather. Before you install the mount you need to attach the ProClip or whatever you decide to use. I marked the holes from the ProClip base onto the KUDA mount and drilled four small holes into it so I can screw the ProClip holder in place.

I bought the ProClip that comes with the cigarette plug/USB cable integrated and disconnected the 12v adapter. Then I just ran the wire between the seat and console and into the USB port under the armrest so I can get full USB connectivity to iDrive for apps, etc.

Very good info. Thanks for posting.

I know that it's a camera thing, but those photos really bring out the variation in color of the BMW vinyl pieces. Some of the parts look blue-ish. Again, I know that in person it looks completely different, but wow does the camera pick up stuff that the human eye can't.

I have an Everdock ordered, but this is as low profile as I could find for now. It works well, I touch the screen with my hand resting on the shifter. Unobtrusive and quick to remove. iOttie 3 with cupholder base.

It's funny how the camera really is so much more perceptive than us. All the trim pieces look exactly the same color to me and definitely no blue tint at all, pure black. I could barely see the coffee stains but again the camera makes it look very dirty!!!

I considered the Everdock Go but I didn't want to loose either cupholder since I usually have an insulated cup or water bottle in one and sunglasses, wallet, keys, etc on the other one.

That being said I am very curious if the Everdock Go will fit sine the M3's cupholders are slightly wider than usual.

In The dock is my iPhone 5s, its The max. Size to The Top i think. An iPhone 6 should be to high in my eyes.. I also dont know about The Layout in my m3 which i should get mid march.

Your correct, I received my Everdock yesterday and the iPhone 6 is too tall to fit on the stand and clear the dash above...not even close.

The 3M tape base wouldn't have made for a solid mount in any case, the cupholder diameter is significantly larger than the cylinder of the Everdock.

Did you consider the Everdock Dash? Not to put on the dash but for the cupholder. Seems like it addresses both the height and width issues. Looks to be a shorter height and fatter base, although maybe too fat for the cupholder??

I use this thing:
http://www.amazon.com/Kenu-Airframe-...one+holder+car

Best thing is that it keeps the phone high up and near the steering wheel, so its very visible.

It is not clear to me how or where this mount is attached to the car. Can you post a couple of pics?

Good suggestion. But now understanding how it mounts, and how it would require running a cable under the console and up thru the cupholder to hide the cord I'm not sure anymore. I have an Everdock at my desk, love that one.

It clips to your AC vent. In TX every wisp of air conditioning is precious if not a life safety issue.
