Shitty picture but here is where I mounted the scosche magic mount. Works great. I love it. Even better than the belkin cup holder mount cause now I can use both/keep them covered. I routed a 6' black lightning cable down through the center console and it pops out of the trim right next to the mount. Works perfect and doesn't come off even during a fact 2-3 shift.

There are two connectors I believe not three, other than that it's nearly identical. The mat can be found on ECS tuning.

bumping this thread.. anybody have any new solutions? Looking to mount my iphone 7 plus, I like the magnetic methods but I would not want to stick anything to the full leather portion running up towards the glove box

I've tried several locations with this magnetic holder. Its adhesive base can be removed and remounted after being heated. Finally settled to this location, at eye level and close enough to read. There are many affordable options on ebay.

Pros/cons vs the KUDA mount with a flat magnet attachment do you think? |

If you use phone apps for navigation (such as Waze), then you may want to have the phone at eye level so that you don't have to look down. That was one of the reasons for my solution.

I agree with not using it on full leather tho. That would make me a bit nervous as well. But on the plastic it's fine. |

So I tried several mounts, including the Belkin cup holder mount, all were too big and in my way. With a iPhone 7+ there was no way to get a charging cable connected when mounting in my cup holder, even tried two different mounts. (Unless it was horizontally) This was my solution, I love it, looks OEM, removes in seconds and holds my phone perfectly and at an ideal height

Just wanted to give an update. I've been using this iOttie iTap mount for several years now (on my F30 and F80), and it's still great. Phone is head on securely and out of the way. You can see in the pic that the phone only obstructs the CD player and first couple numbers.

I made the mistake of buying the Belkin cup holder mount for this car and it broke. Many reviews have started to show up on Amazon about this issue. But my Kenu Airframe is rock solid in my Mazda 3 and wife's CX-5. I'm gonna try it out in the M3 again before I decide on a better solution to the cell phone issue. Quote:
The issue I find with the magnetic mounts is that I often use a leather credit card phone case and many people report issues with their cards not functioning after a while.

The issue I have with magnet mounts is that the mount comes out of the vent when I pull off my phone. Another magnet mount I had was so weak it would drop my phone. I have a 7 plus. |

How long is the charging cable you are using? 6 inch?
